Although I had not seen Lorna recently, she was lovely to be with and my sympathies on her death.  We are all diminished when our friends leave us.

Lorna's radient smile and her friendly nature will never be forgotten. I truly regret that with busy lifestyles and distance, I did not get an opportunity to once again, more recently, meet this wonderful,amazing,beautiful, strong lady and cousin whom I fondly remember.

I am a friend of Lorna Rodrigues.  I only found out today (April 26) because I sent an email to her and received a response that she passed away.  I am in shock.  I knew her for the past 3 years.  We met up several times last year, including at her condominium/flat.  I have photos of us.  I send my condolences to her family.  She wanted me to meet her son, who lives in Rome, sometime. I attended Mass at St. Michael's Cathedral this morning (April 27th) at 8am in her honour.
As well, I shall have the priest during the next week, at services, to announce her name, to remember her.

Lorna took an interest in me, she cared, I could call her on the phone and she would listen.  We met at Sherbourne Health Centre in a Meditation Group.

We met as a group once a week from September to December 2015 through a program called 'Saints Alive', run by Saint Michael's Cathedral. We would watch a video and discuss the life of a different saint each week.

A core group of us from 'Saints Alive' continued to meet once a month to attend events together in the Toronto archdiocese. Lorna joined in processions, the Lift Jesus Higher Rally, and Lenten Retreats. We will always remember her beautiful, radiant smile, her kindness, and her gentle, inner strength.

A few days before her passing, Lorna shared with us her favourite song, performed by a band called Home Free (on YouTube). The song, 'How Great Thou Art', includes these lyrics: When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation and take me home, what joy shall fill my heart. Then I shall bow in humble adoration and proclaim 'My God How Great Thou Art.'




Lorna was the mother of a new coworker of mine, Craig. I have been working with Craig only for 3 weeks and I wanted to express my deepest sympathies to go out to you and your family. May God give you the comfort and peace that you seek and may the soul of your loved one rest in peace.

He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.

I just recently met Lorna at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health where we were both taking part of a research project on cognitive impairment. I think we made friends with each other from the first moment, she was that kind of person. For 6 weeks we shared a streetcar ride back to the center of the city from the camh location on Queen West. I am deeply saddened by the sudden death of Lorna, whom I had grown genuinely adore. I was planning to have her over for dinner after the research project was completed. And then just last week one day came to camh and said she wasn't feeling well, she had been to St. Michael's and the doctor had told he not go anywhere as she might have to come to the hospital because her blood pressure was so low. I had a sense this serious and I offered her my telephone number in case she needed someone, I know that her children were not close by, and I live just around the corner. This week Monday and Tuesday came and went and no Lorna. Wednesday staff told us she had died. I hardly knew her but I will miss her as if I had known her a life time.

I only knew Lorna briefly, as she was in the memory study at CAMH that I lead with 3 colleagues, but nonetheless, she had a significant impact on all of us. We are so very sorry for the loss of your mother, daughter, sister and friend. Lorna was an incredibly kind, thoughtful, generous and joyous woman. She brought light, faith and positivity into our daily classes, and her fellow classmates. We dearly miss her, cherish the time we spent with her, and will reflect on the lessons we learned from her.

Remembering sadly a beautiful soul and "full-of-life" friend.  I met Lorna and worked with her in Nairobi, Kenya.  We had so much fun, laughing and giggling whilst enjoying life and samosas and bhageas as we travelled around in her Beetle!  We kept in touch even after getting married.  Lorna married Edmond, whose family we knew very well and I married a guy from Mombasa who knew Lorna's family very well.  We kept in touch for a while in Canada and visited their beautiful Huntingwood home, when Eric and Craig were children.  We met and talked whenever we could but regretably, could not keep in touch very often.  However, I never forgot her and would be happy to see her at St. Mike's Cathedral when I was watching the Mass on TV or send her a message through Fr. Eric whenever I met him at Church.   To her Mom whom she loved dearly and to her beloved sons and brother, we wish you God's grace to cope with her loss.  To all members of Lorna's immediate and extended family who loved her and cherished her, and many of whom we know, our deepest sympathies.  She will always be in our hearts and prayers.  May she rest in peace

Lorna was such a beautiful woman.  My sister Maria and I knew her through the Kolbe Eucharistic Apostolate Mini-Retreats and the Know Your Faith classes.  She was always smiling and was so proud of her son Fr. Eric.  She will be very missed.  I just saw her a few weeks ago and again she was her gracious self. Lorna was my 'church' friend.  I'm still in shock. I first met her in our Bridge group and enjoyed her self deprecating humour.   I saw her everyday at morning Mass and we chatted numerous times.  Lorna transcribed everything in life through the eyes of her faith.  I admired her great devotion to her Catholic faith.  I still can't believe she's not here.  My heart goes out to her family especially Father Eric.

Lorna will be sorely missed.  I've had the pleasure of working with her over the past number of years and have been privy to parts of her life.  What stood out was her wisdom, her kindness and her undeniable love to her family.   She had so much to offer and was generous to a fault.  We will miss her. 

I can't find the right words to express just how sorry I am to hear about Lorna's passing. We were friends from WTN but had drifted apart a couple of years ago. Lorna was like the colorful fabric in my life. She was fun silly wacky and a free spirit. Lorna could whip up food like nobody else.  There was always some concoction she had put together  or he picked up that was in her fridge and ready to go on your plate. I loved that about her. We always had great fun cleaning out her closet and reorganizing. She would always try to convince me why she should keep a suit that was 20 years old. She made me laugh. And sometimes we would have discussions about some controversial subject and Lorna was one of the few women I knew who could get right down to the bottom of a topic.  We didn't always agree  but I loved that about her too.She talked a lot about her family... something we tend to do with a girlfriend ... and she loved you all very deeply and kept a big space in her heart for the boys, Father Eric and Craig. I am so very very sorry for your loss. May dear Lorna rest in peace and happiness.

Lorna was a kind and generous spirted woman, who touched the lives of so many people. I feel very blessed that she was my friend. We shared many happy experiences and had lots of laughs. Words cannot express my sadness when I heard the news of her passing.
