
On Sunday, September 19th, 2010 at 6:30 a.m. Luigi Mazzonna moved to his home with God. No one knew at the time of his birth that this extraordinary man born April 4, 1912 would carry his family's name for almost a century, committing with great devotion to Angela (nee Antonini) Mazzonna in marriage almost 60 years ago on October 15, 1950. Together in 1959 they came to Canada from their birthplace of Italy with two sons Emilio and Giancarlo. Beloved father-in-law to Emilio's wife Judith Morris and Giancarlo's wife Cyndy Dunn, and loving "Nonno", he wanted nothing more than the simplest celebrations of life together with his extended family including grandson Alexander and his mother Angela (Indovina), granddaughters Alison, Heather, Kristen, grandson Gianluca and his sister Milena (Canizares). His words were always simple and yet often eloquent, understanding the differences between needs and wants, and that any overwhelming journey begins with one step, followed by another, and another...
Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, September 21, 2010 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home (6150 Yonge St., at Goulding, south of Steeles). A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Church (191 Wade Gate, Thornhill). Entombment to follow at Westminster Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
