Today is and will be a day that is etched in our hearts forever. Losing a loved one  is never easy especially one whom who was so close, revered, mentored and loved by family and friends. Today we placed the heart and soul of our families to peaceful rest. I could never be even more proud of our families, my brother and sister in laws Marvin and Vilma for their tenderness and love they poured out over and over again to Minda, in support for all the countless things they did for Minda and her family. Who could ask for more in doing whatever was humanly possible showing her love in little things day in and out. A phone call, a meal, a conversation, a joke, a caress on her cheeks and head. All will not be forgotten. To my extraordinary and loving wife, who showed and displayed in front of me pure attributes and the definition of the word "Sister". Often wondered why we never have national or religious celebrations of a "Brother" or "Sister" day. Are they not important as well? Her profound natural tenderness towards Minda in her final months, hours was truly one of divine love and why we should all believe in humanity. Just visit any hospital...see the love and support of true family...sitting at the foot of a bed perhaps reading a story to their loved ones, making them laugh...just "being there" in their presence telling them heart to heart, "I am here, we are here and you will never be alone." That is sight not too many people can convey unless you have been on both sides of a hospital bed.  I love my niece  Ruby and her Brother Erminn.  It would seem they grew UP" before our eyes?? Their organization, their acceptance even in defeat of losing a loved one still maintaining their inner strength for each other for their Dad, Ernesto and of course of us...we gained our strength from their family.  Erminn took the reins and everything ran smoothly...from A to Z he did it all...so smoothly like a BENZ in high gear (chuckles)...our Ruby...when I see her? I now see our Minda...so proud of her all week knowing that will somehow become and embodiment and likeness of her Mom. The beauty, naivety, grace and maternal guidance for her family. To Katherine, who I know has missed a lot and was missed a lot by her siblings, her Dad, Mom, your Titas and Titos and cousins.  We know your spirit is with your Mom and your family. You will now miss the precious moments, the touch, the tenderness I saw in your Mom and I wished you could have experienced more even in her illness.  Her light always burned for you and your family and I know, you being the eldest and me the eldest in my family. We are looked up to in responsibility.  Sometimes hard to get a break.  I hope you will keep your family close at heart even though you maybe miles apart. Make the effort. Things happen so fast in life sometimes we need to get into the right lane to enjoy life at a slower speed but not watch it pass by overtaking everyone.  To my wonderful ELDER (joke joke) Brother in law Master Ernesto....you have been through a lot my man. I could say you are like a finely tuned machine but machines don't have hearts...you have a BIG heart. People just read you wrong I figure. Maybe you are the TIN MAN...in the Wizard of Oz but you have a quiet inner strength that kept Minda grounded and your family stable in the most fierce of storms and you have faced more than your share.  You are the only head of the family now.  Your pioneer and spirit is enjoyed by man families here in Canada as i would have never met my wife..so I guess I need to blame someone G>)).  You are older now..your movements are slow but your brain is quick....you move slow gaining traction while others move quickly spinning their wheels. Finally my 3-Gs...I as get older I can understand how the relationship grows from parent to children...finger waving of disciplines becomes waving them on  to new opportunities.  We push them to gain experience, education, life skills we see them off...and then we miss them all. We may joke and tell them to MOVE ON...but when your house is filled with them back again, with their friends, their girlfriends, their spouses, YOUR grandchildren...isn't that is what life is all about? We share in their successes but guide them out of distress and tragedy still? Does a parent's job ever stop. The light beacon goes from 100W to 40W but it is still on for them.  Enjoy your moments...a coffee, a walk, a show that they like but you pretend to., all these are moments...moments and memories the M & M....of life...hard to come by? Not lost ever but the more you make the more you miss a person when they are gone but they ALWAYS make you smile.  Minda gave our her family and her extended family this over and over again, year after year.  I lost a dear Sister today...we lost a dear Sister but the memories and moments will sustain us in remembering her and thanking God for the time he allowed her with us as she taught us by example all the principles of love, support, family and faith bye her living example.  R.I.P OUR Dear Sister, Mother, Wife and Friend Luzviminda Figuracion, always beautiful to me at 70 yrs of age.

Ruby and Joe, we are so sorry for your loss.  Nothing can replace a mothers love and care.  I am sure she will always be by your side protecting you. We are saddened to hear of the passing of your beloved sister and aunt, Minda. Our family was blessed to have met her and we will treasure those memories in our hearts. Dear Ruby, Joe, and family, we're so sorry to hear the sad news about your mom.  Our sincere condolences for your loss.  Hugs.  Teresa Vu

We're friends of Minda's, part of the St. Dennis Dr., Don Mills squad, in the mid-70's Trudeau, Sr. years.  We're new immigrants from the Philippines who found one another in one apartment building (we, the Gamanas, the Abogados, the Figurations, and the Frondozos) and as a decent compassionate bunch we looked after one another.  We're older kids who brought Minda's kids to elementary school and sometimes looked after her beautiful kids with curls: Rina, Charma, Ruby(Happy), and Ermin.  Those memories stayed with us, like part of our DNA, so the sad news of Minda's passing affected us in so many ways.  She may be gone but we will never forget her kindness, strength, and devotion to family, friends, especially to God.  We're so grateful for her friendship.  We, the Gamana family, love you and will never forget you Minda, and say hi to Tony, our dad.

Will always love and remember my Sister Minda for the special relationship I had with her. It was one of pure respect and  admiration towards each other. Had to be blind not to notice she was the driving force and nucleus within her family and all her siblings as well  How important it was to have family near by, to keep a camera near by in your hip pocket for pictures of memories in reflection.  Hard to sum up Minda in one word or even a sentence. Whatever it might have been, sound advice, a pat on the back or quiet smile or her giggle I would notice in a crowded room. It was heart warming to see her that way and I will always remember that. A quiet soul in the corner but enjoying the moment of someone else. Such a positive influence on me always seeing the sunshine through the clouds in any situation. Even to the end. Not a word in complaint I ever heard. Her Strength, her love and zest for life was inspiring at the holidays ever year in and out.  If she called, first thing she would say is "we haven't see each other for a while." To remind me, time for a visit. A quiet strength in her own respectful, naive manner always supporting, giving, nurturing you forward to "just do and go for it".  Will miss that positivity and her synergy of her family values. Guess she has taught US enough as she has handed over the torch of life to her children and siblings and their extended families. As we continue on in our own lives we could only embrace just how much of a blessing she was for whomever had the honour and privilege of having her in their lives.  If you were as lucky and as fortunate as I was to have that privilege with my wonderful sister-in-law for the past 32 yrs. I thank God and the Figuracion Family for allowing me to be part of those wonderful collage of wonderful memories.
