
LINDSTROM, Maimu (Sillart)-June 9, 1923 - August 2, 2003-'Safe in the Arms of Jesus'-Fondly known to her family as 'Ala', age 80, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 2, 2003, after a courageous battle with cancer. Beloved sister of Hulda Sillart of Estonia and Ella Pumber of Toronto. She was an example of a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She will be much missed by her children Paavo (Susan) Lindstrom, Kullikky-Kathy (Larry) Taylor, Elmet (Julianne) Lindstorm, Michael Lindstrom and Christian Lindstrom, their families and her children's father Harry Lindstrom. She was dearly loved by her ten grandchildren Lisa, Kristine (John), Melanie (Steve), Mark (Nancy), Todd (Amanda), Trish, Laura, Erika, Andrew, Kristjan and three great-grandchildren Marissa, Erik and Jasmin. Maimu's grandchildren will remember her love, acceptance, kindness and great cooking. 'Taki Maimu' was much loved by her nieces, nephews in Estonia, Sweden, U.K., Canada and the U.S.A. She was predeceased by sisters Antonia Kappel-Funk, Ester Vaikla, Magda Sillart, and Mari Kruusel. A legacy of faith in her Lord and Savior has been left to her family. Special thanks to the nurses and staff for the wonderful care she has received from the Palliative Care Unit K1E of the Sunnybrook Hospital. Mom felt you were ministering angels to her and daily thanked God for your loving care. Visitation will be held at R.S. Kane Funeral Home (6150 Yonge Street, at Goulding, south of Steeles) on Tuesday, August 5, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, August 6 at 11 am at Bayview Glen Church (300 Steeles Ave. East, Thornhill, at the northeast corner of Steeles and Bayview). Interment will follow at York Cemetery with a reception at the Estonian Baptist Church, 883 Broadview Ave., Toronto. Tokens of sympathy may be directed to 'The Palliative Care Unit' in care of the Sunnybrook Foundation, 2075 Bayview Ave., Toronto, ON M4N 3M5.
