Margaret Fanaki

Passed away peacefully at her home in Thornhill in the early morning of Sunday, October 21, 2012, surrounded by her family and friends. Beloved wife of the late Dr. Fouad Fanaki. Loving mother to Joseph (Lisa) and Adam (Janet) Fanaki and grandmother to Isobel, Sam and Ava. Dear friend of Wendy Aspinall. Cherished aunt of Susan McGeachie (Henry Zavagno) and Derek McGeachie (Andrea Lindsay) and great-aunt to Alexandra, Jack, Nicole, Audrey, Iain and Ashton. Pre-deceased by her brother, Derek McGeachie. Margo was born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1938 and came to Canada in 1961. After arriving in Canada, she married Fouad Fanaki, her husband for 25 years until his death in 1988. Margo was a physiotherapist at North York General Hospital for 27 years and later in private practice. She was highly respected in her field and taught a post-graduate course in Orthopaedic Manipulative Therapy for several years. Margo was an avid golfer and active member of the Toronto Ladies' Golf Club. We are grateful for the compassion of her caregivers, Selena and Ruth, and her medical team of Dr. Leung and Dr. Freeman. Margo will be greatly missed by her family and friends. The Funeral Service will take place at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, 140 Brooke Street, Thornhill on Saturday, October 27 at 10:00 am, with a reception to follow. Interment will take place at York Cemetery. As Margo loved flowers, they would be gratefully accepted in her memory
