

Passed away at Sunnybrook Hospital, 2:00 a.m., July 24, 2014, at the age of 83, from a major brain hemorrhage. Marg is survived by, Gene, her loving husband of 59 years. They were married in Toronto on April 9, 1955.
Marguerite is lovingly remembered by her son Steven (Yvonne), daughter Marilyn (Kevin), daughter Nancy (Rick). Cherished grandmother of; Michael, Alison, Gloria Lyn, Jim, Stephen, Amy, Emily and William. Survived by her brother Ron.
Marg was born in Toronto on Decemeber 29, 1930. She graduated from Vaughan Road High School, Normal School (Teacher's College) and York University. She taught in North York for seven years, then retired to raise three children and at the same time secured her Bachelor of Arts in the evenings at Atkinson College, York University. She returned to teaching kindergarten in several schools, retiring from Yorkwoods Gate School in 1989. She earned an enviable reputation and mentored many younger teachers.
Since 1962 she enjoyed gardening, fishing, swimming, water skiing, and boating at her cottage on Chandos Lake. She was treasurer of a group of retired teachers' investment club, the local Gilmour Point Road Association, Forest Grove Women's Group and a member of the Church Finance Committee. She preserved all kinds of fruits for jam, peaches, and made many baking items, and she was especially known for her cheese bread.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at Forest Grove United Church, North York, on Friday August 15, 2014, at 2 p.m., with a reception to follow. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Association.
