

Marion (Betty) Elizabeth Schmidt, age 92, of New Denmark, NB passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 12, 2025 in Aurora, Ontario, with her loving daughter Krista by her side. Up until the end Betty maintained her kindness, gratitude and strength of character.
Betty was proud to be a registered nurse for over 42 years. She served and assisted in her community of New Denmark even after her retirement from nursing. She was involved in many organizations, including being the president of the Lutheran Women's group, secretary for the St. Peter's Lutheran Church council, a delegate for the Lutheran Church at their 6th Biannual Convention in Toronto, ON, being on the education committee for the Lutheran Church, the secretary for the New Denmark Seniors Complex and a member of the Eastern Star Lodge of Plaster Rock, NB. Betty was always" just a call away" for anyone needing a nurse in the community. Betty also enjoyed painting pictures, arts and crafts, going to the movies, meeting new people, and spending time with her family and friends. Her favourite places were her home, the camp, and going on drives to discover and admire the countrysides. Her greatest memories were spending time with her family and friends whom she loved and cherished.
Betty was born in Aroostook Junction, NB on December 5, 1932 to her parents Vivian and Arthur Boone. Betty is survived by her loving and devoted daughter Krista Schmidt, her loving grandchildren Michael Schmidt and Nicholas Henry and her beautiful great grandchildren Aaron, Leah and Aubree Schmidt. Her supportive daughter-in-law Patricia Schmidt-Henry, son-in-law Mitch Henry, and sisters-in-law Laura Schmidt and Ketty Poirier. Betty is predeceased by her loving husband Kenneth Schmidt of 58 years, her sons Walter and Mitchell Schmidt, as well as her three her brothers, Arthur, Donald and Gordon Boone, and her sisters-in-law Dorothy Boone and Edith Boone and her brothers-in-law Lloyd Schmidt and Emile Paul Poirier.
Betty's life can be best encapsulated by five "F" words: Family, Friends, Flowers, Food and Fun. In honour of these five "F" words her daughter Krista invites you to attend Betty's Celebration of Life to be held in the basement of the St. Peter's Lutheran Church in New Denmark, NB on Friday, August 8th, 2025 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., with snacks and music to be provided to celebrate Betty's long life. Private burial at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made in Betty's name to the St. Peter's Lutheran Church or CHATS (Community & Home Assistance to Seniors) where Betty fondly attended for many years in Ontario at https://chats.on.ca/ways-to-give/. Krista would like to give a special thanks to all of the PSW's from Spectrum, and CHATS, along with the doctors and nurses, who all assisted in providing excellent care and support.
