

A resident of the Kensington Retirement Home, she died on Monday October 24th, 2011 at Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital peacefully with her family at her side. Born March 29, 1918, in Loggieville, New Brunswick, Edna graduated from St. Michael's Academy Chatham and Provincial Normal School, Fredericton, New Brunswick. In 1937, Edna began her career teaching grades 1 to 8 in the one room schoolhouse on Middle Island and described in published reference. (Daley C. Springer A. Edna, second oldest in a family of nine, was predeceased by sisters Katherine, Geraldine, Gertrude, brothers George, James, Patrick, Thomas, Frederick and husband Richard, whom she married in 1945 while teaching in Arvida. She is survived by her 3 children, Patricia (John), Michael (Maureen) and John (Geri); 6 grandchildren, Candice, Shana, Richard, Ryan, Patrick and Kara; and 4 great grandchildren, Owen, Beatrice, Andrew and Edward. Edna celebrated her 93rd birthday March 2011. Edna requested "No Donations". Her passion has been lifelong learning and would be honored if you or a loved one pursued educational opportunity in her memory.
