I suffered from panic attacks from age 24 to age 51. In 2002, after being in the Psych Ward for the first time in my life at 51 years of age an AA friend took me to see Dr. Bloudoff. He generously gave me a test for free that usually cost $500.00. My friend and I went outside to the parking lot, sat at a picnic table where I filled out the questionnaire. Dr. B. then told me I was clinically depressed and did not suffer from Bipolar. He gave a prescription for Effexor to be taken in the am, and Trazadone to be taken at bedtime. My regular MD doctor who was also a Psychotherapist, later told me he would never have thought of that combination. Today is the 2nd, day of April 2021 and I am still on the same medication. I have not had a panic attack since 2002.

My brother Anthony suddenly passed away less than 2 weeks ago. 
I looked up Anthony’s previous doctor who was Dr Bloudoff and was saddened to hear of his passing. 
Dr Bloudoff at the time saved my brothers life. He was the BEST doctor and someone our family admired for helping my brother. It was because of Dr Bloudoff that Anthony was able to live a normal life and because of this doctors constant help and care that Anthony was able to move forward in life. 
Anthony has been to several doctors in Canada and the U.S and it wasn’t until meeting Dr Bloudoff that his life was saved. 
Our family will forever be thankful and grateful for Dr Bloudoff.  Your legacy will never be forgotten....thank you for everything you have done.

Dr. Michael Bloudoff was a man who cared deeply about his life’s work, helping and nurturing people who suffered with addictions problems He gave till it hurt. He went way beyond the call of duty even offering to help an elderly woman by driving her to her group meeting and or taking her grocery shopping. He was responsible for taking a Developmentally challenged man to find the right placement he needed, that would help him live a life of sobriety. He was also concerned and worried if someone went missing, or didn’t have the money to get the treatment they needed. He be right there, offering his love, wisdom and yes, his no nonsense displine. He fought with governments, courts and families all to help someone come from the dark to find the light with his hand stretched out, to help pull them through their darkest hour. I will never forget how he helped Famous PEOPLE Players and my daughter exceed their wildest dreams. God bless you Michael, you are a special star shining brightly above us. Dear Heidi and family, I was so sorry to hear of Michael's sudden death. It was a privilege when he shared his personal journey a few years ago with me, in the hope that I could use his story in my work with medical students and residents. I have done so. I also appreciated the opportunity to meet with him and with your son, and to see the pride and joy that Mike felt for his family. My dearest Heidi, Doug, Sharon, Kris, and Eva; Where do I begin, some people briefly come into your life and go, leaving a small part of them with you. Mike came into my life, when I needed someone the most, and will remain with me for the rest of my life. Mike had the ability to look right through me to the root of my problems, no matter how hard I tried to hide them from him, I couldn’t get anything past him. When I was scared Mike gave me courage, when I was weak he gave me strength, but no matter how I felt, a big hug at the end of the day always made me feel better. Mike made me a part of your family and for that I an eternally grateful. I will never forget Mike because if it was not for him I probably would not be here today to leave this message. Mike was my biggest support when my father passed away recently, and I hope I can return that to you now and in the future. I will truly miss Mike. Mike was one of my classmates in one of the best UBC Medical Classes. It was one of the best because he was in our class. He was generous in helping his classmates study and pass the interminable exams. He will be missed by all of his friends and classmates.

A note from one of Mike's medical classmates: Had a great meeting and discussion with Mike at the Whistler reunion; marvelled at how he had overcome so many challenges in his life. We were looking forward to his visit this fall to Vancouver - a dinner was planned. Saddened that will not have the chance for one more meeting with Mike. Condolences to the family. Heidi, Douglas, Sharon, Eva, Kristjan - and Teddy. My heart goes out to you at this very difficult time. All losses of loved ones are greatly felt, but I know from experience there is none greater than when it is sudden and unexpected and far too premature, as was Mike's. It feels like a great injustice. And it is just that. Mike was a great help to me over the years, and I feel I never adequately thanked him for that while he was alive. I guess I always thought there would be another chance; this is a lesson we need to relearn throughout our lives, how quickly things change forever, denying us those opportunities. I know Mike's work helped thousands -- directly and indirectly -- through his work in a helping profession. There are many families out there who owe a debt of gratitude; we are but one of them. When you help one person, it has a ripple effect you can not ever completely know. He did a lot of good with the time he was given, which was not enough by any measure. Deepest sympathy to Heidi and family. I regret that I will be out of town for the service, but wanted to share a few words to let you know my feelings. Doctor Bloudoff was an important man in my life and the lives of many of the people I love. For more than a decade I was blessed to be Mike's client, with the happy outcome of restoring a life of liberty and dignity to a man who had truly given up hope. He was much more than a Doctor to me, giving his professional and personal time and energy to support my personal growth and even my business efforts while never hesitating to telling me the truth when I needed to hear it... he was a valued friend. I know Dr. Bloudoff took every client's situation personally and gave part of his heart to each and every person he touched. I thank God that there are men like Mike in this world, and am eternally grateful for the kindness and wisdom he shared with us. At a time in my life when I needed help and guidance, Michael was there. He had the uncanny ability to see through to the truth and help you to heal yourself. Our deepest condolences to the family for the loss of such a great man. Another good man gone. His legacy and contributions will live on in many of the people he helped and touched with kindness. Mike was a a good friend, a surrogate father, and a buddy for 20 years. His immense knowledge never ceased to amaze me. When my own father was ill, I would ask him a complex medical question that he would answer with the ease and accuracy of a specialist in ICU medicine. He was so well read on contemporary history that I would rather ask him than go and check Wikipedia. Mike could have easily passed a geological final exam or metalugical engineering exam as well. His study of the financial markets was astute. All of it basically self taught. I will miss the regular calls, and periodic lunches. Mike saw me through every rough spot in my life with kindness and firm advice. He gave me the confidence to move ahead when I was afraid to. I attribute alot to this great man.
