Ljudmila (Mila) Bryce died peacefully, aged 80, in the Sunnybrook hospital palliative care unit, on Sunday, January 15, 2017. Mila’s life was full of joy, but also of adversity. Experiencing the devastations of war at a very young age, and immigrating to Canada from Slovenia as a young woman with little money and understanding of english, her story is one of perseverance, resilience, and ultimately triumph. Its seems understood that everyone who knew Mila (and even probably strangers during brief chance encounters) could feel her kindness, welcoming, and warmth-- almost as though they were tangible. She truly touched the lives of so many, and will be fondly remembered and missed by all who knew her. By her grand-daughters Natasha and Natalie (Billy); by her great-granddaughters Tia (Jamie), Kaylynn, Madeline, and Abigail; and by her friends and neighbours, whom she treasured very, very dearly, at St. Leonard’s Church and Joseph Brown Manor.
