Moufid Halahel was born on February 15, 1924 in his beloved Hamat, Lebanon. He is survived by his loving wife Rabab, his four children: Ferial, Ted, Mary and Joe, and his 6 grandchildren: Georges, Elizabeth, John, Katia, Chadi, and David. He was deeply loved by all who knew him; he was known to open his hands and heart to anyone who was in need, welcoming people to live in his home, whether in their humble apartment or the house they lived in for 38 years. A man of simple words (famously known for his response to almost anything, “not bad”), he spent many long hours in the garden, fishing, at the gym, and swinging in an absurdly low-hanging hammock. He loved his home soil in Hamat and found it to be healing, but it was no comparison to the home he found in his family. On his journey home today, to the richest healing soil, he will be missed, and never forgotten as he lives on within us now and forever.
