Nina Cernavskis

CERNAVSKIS, Dr. Nina, Dr. Med. Dent., DDS, BSc. Dent., MSc. Dent., Passed away May 19, 2016 at North York General Hospital at the age of 91. Beloved wife of Paul (deceased), loving mother of Inese Flude (Greg) and Andris Cernavskis (Cathy Comiskey), dearly loved Oma of Lija (Fidel), Paul and David Flude and Andra and Jana Cernavskis, great grandmother of Madeleine Nina. Dear sister in law of Maria Viducis and Albert Cernavskis (deceased). Dear aunt of Peter and Edgar Viducis and their families. Fondly remembered by relatives in Canada, Latvia and Russia. Born Riga, Latvia, Feb. 4, 1925. Nina finished high school in Latvia and as a young woman was instrumental in helping her and her future husband’s families escape from the communist terror. She completed her undergraduate degree in dentistry as a displaced person in Germany. After coming to Canada she graduated from the University of Toronto with a DDS degree and opened her first practice on Broadview Ave. Nina obtained postgraduate qualifications in dentistry at the University of Toronto, where she also taught dental students. Throughout her life she was the rock who supported her immediate and extended family and worked as a dedicated volunteer in her church and sorority. Visitation R.S.
