Beloved wife of the late Theodore (Ted) (Danny to his air force friends). Loving mother to Zoe/Rick, Peter/Catherine, Annette, and Kim Lambros Haynes. Loving Grandmother to Melinda, Ted, Laurie, Robin, Jack and Rachel, and great -grandmother to Lauren, John, Owen, Ryan, Will, Ted and Cal. Dear sister to Myrtle, Frank, the late Hazel and the late Olive. Lovingly remembered by her sister-in-law Georgia, and her nieces, nephews, and their families.
Born May 9, 1924 in England, Patricia began her professional dancing career at the early age of 14, performing at the London Palladium and throughout Great Britain during the early years of the WW II. She was under contract to Warner Brothers.
She won the heart of her husband, a young RCAF pilot stationed in England, and was married at age 19. When she became pregnant with her first child, she was evacuated from London during the Blitz, and as a war bride crossed the Atlantic during wartime to her new home in Wiarton, Ontario.
As a young mother, Patricia opened her own dancing school in Wiarton, attracting over 150 students from Tobermory to Owen Sound. She not only was the sole dancing teacher for those students but also the choreographer and costume designer as well as seamstress for all of the costumes for those recitals. In those years she developed a love for all sports, especially hockey and baseball. That love for sports never left her. She never missed a game, and even the week she died she knew all the scores and who was playing who.
She was successful at all her endeavors. When her husband reenlisted in the RCAF during the Korean War, she became a young RCAF wife, traveling throughout Canada and Europe. During those years she used her dancing experience during the Skit Nights at the Officer's Mess. One memorable event was her organization of an enactment of the Cannes Cannes from the Moulin Rouge, which was very well received. When her husband was retired early from the air force, when she was 40, she went to work to help support her family as a file clerk at General Accident. She worked her way up to the subrogation department and was hired by the newly formed OHIP as a supervisor in their Subrogation Department, where she worked until her retirement at age 65.
In her 80's we bought her a computer and who knew what she would start to do! She learned to surf the net, watch ballet videos on youtube, buy her theater tickets online and take care of all her Internet banking. She had a Facebook page, and she emailed all of us although most of her friends did not have that same capability.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Franklin Fishing Club on Saturday, October 5, 2013. Donations may be made to the Canadian Lung Association or to the Canadian National Ballet School in Toronto (in recognition of Patricia), where both her daughter Annette and her granddaughter Rachel attended.
