Pat grew up in Willowdale with her parents Albert and Emily Corner and her brother Ted.
From a young age Pat was a loving and generous person devoted to her family and friends. She was a hard worker helping out after school in her parents fish and chip shop until the day it was sold. After graduating high school she signed on with the BA Oil company that we now know as Petro Canada. She was well liked and respected in her workplace and was considered a valuable asset to the company. She made many, many, many close friends during her 42 years of employment.
In her personal life Pat was just as loved. At the tender age of 17 she met a young Buddy Holly look alike by the name of Larry Ward whom on June 26th 1967 she married. Pat was a loving and doting wife and on October 14th 1975 Pat and Larry had a bouncing baby boy named Lawrence Darrin who they fondly referred to as Darrin. This sweet little family was as close as any could be. They traveled the globe together and genuinely enjoyed being together. Pat truly enjoyed being with her family. Darrin often told me of the times he spent with his mom, just the two of them. Times I know he cherished.
On August 26th 2002 Pat's little star was born by the name of Dallas. He was her pride and joy.
Now Pat was a great wife, an amazing Mother but she was an unbelievable fantastic Nana. She lived for his smile and loved to spend time with him as did he with her. The Sundays of musical chairs and play with me Nana, and look what I can do Nana are times I know Dallas will remember forever.
On a personal note, I came into the family shortly after loosing my own family. Pat and Larry stepped into the role as my parents and welcomed me into their home with open arms and open hearts. They treated me like their own and I will never forget that. Pat was more than a Mother in law to me, she was my friend, my mentor, my confidant, my Mom. I love her more than words could ever express and will miss her smiling face and kind words.
On Wednesday the world became a little less bright though I know she will forever live on in our hearts.
There are so many things I will miss:
No more weekly Sunday lunches full of gossip while Dallas and Papa play hockey in the basement.
No more funny and sweet emails that always brighten my day.
No more Hi love, how was your day?
No more you always look beautiful
No more Larry stop picking
No more Darrin do you need money for a haircut, hint-hint
No more Dallas is always perfect (seen only through the eyes of his Nana)
No more going anywhere and meeting someone she knows
No more play with me Nana
No more Aloha nights
No more No more Christmas' full of that infectious laugh of hers
No more I'm so proud of you lovey
I only hope I can be half of what she built me up to be.
It's time to dance Pat, throw on those tight leather pants and shake it all night long.
Aloha Pat we love you.
Forever your Daughter, Denise
