Dianne was promoted to higher service after passing away peacefully, far too suddenly for those who loved her, on Friday, December 4, 2015. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Thornhill Golf and Country Club, 7994 Yonge Street, Thornhill from 2:00 – 4:00 pm on Sunday December 13.
Dianne was born March 29, 1931 in Galt, Ontario, daughter of the late Russ and Ruth Lashbrook, and stepmother Vera Lashbrook (Walker). She was predeceased by her loving husband, George Watson Smith and her brother Bill Lashbrook. She is survived by her brother Fred (Barb) Lashbrook, her son Stephen Smith, daughter Patricia Doolan, son-in-law Paul, loving grandchildren John, Andrew, Brooke and her treasured friends.
Dianne had a zest for life, sailing for many years with George on their 30 ft sailboat, “Dianne” (what else would it be called?) and curling at the Thornhill Golf and Country Club for more than 40 years. She was an avid golfer at Toronto Ladies Golf Club and enjoyed travel. Partly due to George’s influence she built a successful career in real estate. In her later years she adopted bridge as a favourite pastime and companionship with Coco, her faithful dog.
Vibrant and independent to the end, she enjoyed her final trip with a safari to South Africa in October. She will be sadly missed, loved by her family and friends who retain a treasure of great memories.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
