Raymond Whaley

Passed away peacefully at age 82 on Friday November 25, 2011 surrounded by his loving family at St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto. Ray is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years Muriel (Keeling Boe), predeceased by his first wife, Margaret (Honsberger). Son of the late, Lillian and Wilber Whaley and brother of the late Murray Whaley. Proud and dedicated father to Linda (Gary) Steele, Susan (John) Sherwood, Carol Whaley, Bruce (Susie) Whaley and Janice (Peter) Feanny. Loving and caring Grandfather to Erin, Lindsay (Shawn Snider) and Jeffery Steele, Ryan (Lindsay), Justin and Breanne Sherwood, Yasmine, Derya and Kamil Whaley-Kalaora, Hannah and Adam Whaley, Molly, Tanner and Noah Feanny.

Ray was born on October 6, 1929 in Mount Hope, Ontario. After graduating from U of T with a Mathematics and Physics degree (1950) he pursued a career as an Actuary in Toronto. Ray retired as Sr. VP from the Prudential Insurance Company Canada after 40 years service. In his retirement, he continued to be a leader, most recently as past President, of LLIR at Glendon College. He was also a very active member of Forest Grove United Church.

Ray had a passion for music, opera, travelling the world, genealogy, bridge, curling, family and his faith. He especially loved to welcome family and friends to share his oasis at their cottage in Muskoka.

Visitation at R.S. Kane Funeral Home on Tuesday November 29th 2 - 4 and

7 - 9 p.m. (6150 Yonge Street, at Goudling, south of Steeles) North York. Memorial Service will be held at Forest Grove United Church, (43 Forest Grove Drive, North York) on Wednesday November 30th at 11a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to Forest Grove United Church or Family Network for Deaf Children or a charity of your choice. Private cremation.
