Henry passed peacefully with family by his side, due to complications following recent surgery, on March 15, 2025 at Scarborough General Hospital. He is survived by his wife Cathy of 40 years, his children Carolyn and Alex (Kassie), and his grandpups Milka and Jodie. Henry has gone to rest with his parents Viljo and Kirsti.
Henry will be remembered as a loving husband and father, and for his lifelong commitment to his faith. After completing his Master of Divinity at Emmanuel College, he was ordained as a United Church Minister in 2012. He was honoured to serve as Minister at the congregations of the former St. Paul’s Lakeshore United Church, Chapel in the Park United Church, and Thornhill United Church. Prior to his passing, he was looking forward to returning to Thornhill United Church as Voluntary Associate Minister.
In addition to spending time with family and friends, Henry enjoyed golfing, reading, savouring sweet treats from local bakeries, and relaxing at the family cottage that had been built by his parents.
The family would like to express deep thanks to the staff at Scarborough Birchmount Hospital and Scarborough General Hospital, particularly Dr. Howard Clasky, for their compassionate care. The family is also deeply grateful to neurologist Dr. Lance Majl for his dedicated care for Henry during his journey with Parkinson Disease.
A memorial service will take place at Thornhill United Church on March 29, 2025 at 10:30am. The service will be livestreamed on Zoom and a recording will be available.
