

Peacefully, with his family at his side, at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie, on September 22, 2012, at the age of 79. Fred was an inspiration to his family and a source of light to his community. Educated in the Masters of Divinity program at University of Toronto's Trinity College, Fred sought a career of purpose and service in the Anglican faith. After starting his career in Bramalea, he devoted twenty years to St. Christopher's in Toronto. Fred then served at St. Leonard's Parish in North Toronto until his retirement. He enjoyed travelling to Barbados, Virginia, Delaware, and all other destinations where family and friends were found. Beloved husband of Joan (nee Cope), father of Deborah (James McCreary), Michele (Jim Kelly), Frederick (Mary Lumgair), Rebecca (Ross Jones), and Sarah (Joe Cacioppo). Proud and loving Poppa to his "Magnificent Seven": Ryan, Gigi, Christian, Megan, Galen, Michael and Spencer. Survived by his loving sister Gloria (Bernie Collins). Those who knew Fred will remember his warmth, wisdom, and ability to relate to everyone around him. Visitation to be held on Tuesday, September 25th from 2-4 p.m. & 7-9 p.m. at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home (6150 Yonge Street, at Goulding, south of Steeles). A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, September 26th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Leonard's Anglican Church (25 Wanless Avenue, Toronto). Interment to follow at St. John's York Mills Anglican Churchyard. Dad (Derd), you will be missed but remembered, and will always be a source of love, affection, and inspiration. In lieu of flowers, donations in Fred's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or The Royal Victoria Hospital of Barrie Foundation.
