Doug passed peacefully with family by his side after a short illness. He is survived by his wife Seema of 31 years and their son Blaine. He is also survived by his brother David (Georgina), sister Charlotte (Tim) as well as his nephews Tom (Kara), Keith, Peter (Diamond), Richard (Lucy) and niece Catherine (Greg).
Doug was pre-deceased by his parents William and Margaret Chadwick.
Doug always had a positive outlook on life (longtime Toronto Maple Leaf fan) and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. His love of sports, especially hockey and golf, are engrained in his son Blaine’s life as well. Often the two of them could be seen playing golf at their nearby golf course. Doug’s maternal grandparents, Jean and James Torrie were life-long golfers winning many tournaments in St. Catharines and in Toronto. Westview Golf Club was a special place for Doug; his parents played at Westview and Doug followed in the love of golf. Music was one of his biggest passions – from playing guitar in bands, teaching, and being a member of the Destiny & Dominion worship team during his retirement. For several years, using Zoom, his friend Brian and himself would jam often. He was a huge fan of jazz, John Coltrane, Dexter Gordon, and Charlie Parker to name a few. Travelling was another one of his passions. He visited multiple countries and most Canadian provinces. Just last year, Doug spent time in Newfoundland & Labrador, Mexico and Las Vegas.
