I regret having to inform you of the passing of Rocky Guarino. Rocky has been suffering from cancer for the last year; undergoing bouts of radiation at Sunnybrook. Rocky was 90 years old. He passed away on November 11, 2022 at Mackenzie Health Hospital in Richmond Hill and is survived by his wife Antoniette and daughter, Maria. He is predeceased by his son Nick, who died in a plane crash in 1981.
Rocky was a long-time member of the Governor General's Horse Guards Regimental Band. He joined the band in the 1954 after he arrived in Toronto from Italy and was a loyal member of the Band and Regiment for the next 55 years. He rarely missed a regimental parade, band practice or event, in all those years. Rocky was appreciative of the advice and help he received in the Horse Guards that started him on his civilian career as an electrician. He worked for the city of North York for many years until his retirement and was always available to help out fellow band members with their electrical problems or projects.
Rocky Guarino was a good friend and will be missed.
According to his daughter there will be a private family funeral mass and burial.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.kanejerrett-thornhill.ca for the Guarino family.
