It is with great sadness that we let you know about the loss of our Mom, Rosalie Marian Kemp, who passed unexpectedly, on Sunday, June 5, 2022, at the age of 84. She was married to our Dad, Murdo, the love of her life, for 62 years. She leaves behind our Dad and her four children, John (Liza), Carol-Ann, Melanie (Roger), and Ryan, along with her four grandchildren, Callum, Madison, Emily, and Alyssa.
Mom was born and raised in Toronto, the city she loved. She was born to Richard James and Rose Marie Nicholson and grew up with six brothers and sisters, Ricky (Rosemary), Danny (Dale), Carole, Patricia (Joe), Kenny (Pat), and Kathy (Bill).
We thank our Mom for the example she left for us in so many ways, but her relationship with our Dad was most important. They were partners and friends who were a team in everything. They took care of each other first so that they could then care for us. Mom and Dad also shared a faith and love for their Creator, Jehovah God, whom Mom loyally worshipped for 48 years until her death. She loved going to assemblies and conventions with her family. And she always took comfort in the hope that one day she would return to life on a beautiful paradise earth with her loved ones.
As Dad struggled with Alzheimer's in later years, she cared for him at home as long as possible and never complained. She was forever loyal to him. Her courage at facing and dealing with difficulties was amazing. "Big things come in small packages", she would say. She was a true friend who showed love at all times. Her strength was immeasurable when Dad moved to Sunnybrook Veterans Centre, where she would visit often, holding Dad's hand and just enjoying his company. Thankfully, he will never know the loss of our Mom and she will not know the loss of him. The perfect ending to their love story.
Mom was our best friend. She was for each of us what we needed. She always put us first in everything. Family was the most important thing to her. She gave the best advice. She was our biggest cheerleader. She taught us by example to always show love and gratitude. She was the strongest woman we knew who passed that strength to her four children and grandchildren. We will miss spending time with her, along with her love of reading the paper daily, her love of watching TV, and the time spent over a cup of tea. We are broken to suddenly be without her.
We can't thank the Georgian Bay General Hospital (Midland) ER and ICU nurses and doctors enough for their tremendous fight to save her and their compassion and care.
As Mom didn't want a funeral, a gathering of friends and family to share memories and celebrate her life will be planned in the near future. In lieu of flowers, we ask for donations to be made in her name to the Toronto Star Fresh Air Fund, a charity she benefitted from herself as a child, or the Tim Hortons Foundation Camps.
Online condolences and expressions of sympathy may be left for the family through the Kane-Jerrett Funeral Home website at: www.kanejerrett-thornhill.ca
