Born in Barrhead, Scotland on March 30, 1937 to parents Martin and Agnes Alford, and eldest sister to James and Ernest.
In 1961 she married her devoted husband Frank. Even though he was too short she would say with a smile on her face, They were married for 57 years, until his passing on November 2, 2018 standing by each other’s side through it all.
They raised five beautiful and caring children: Angela (Tony), John (Kelly), Paul (Helen), Frankie, and Steven (Hilary), Sarah was grandmother to three wonderful grandchildren, Robert (Joanne and Megan), Caelan and Clare.
Sadie was the heart and soul of our family. She spent her life caring for and thinking of others before herself. She made friends everywhere she went. Our mother was small in stature, but she had plenty of fight in her. That’s exactly what she did when Frankie was diagnosed with Autism as a child. Showing no fear, she fought for him until his passing on February 28, 2017.
Unfortunately, the last few years were especially tough with the loss of her husband and two sons, Paul and Frankie.
Sadie loved everyone, and everyone loved her, both family and friends in Canada and in Scotland. We know that everyone is going to miss her beautifully decorated cards.
She would want us to thank you all for the love and support over the years.
Our hearts are broken as nothing can take away the pain of losing a loved one, especially one who has been instrumental in forging who we are. We love you and will miss you our sweet wee Mammy/Granny.
As she often would say , "If I don't see you through the week , I'll see you through the windae" (window)
