Shirley Maroney

SHIRLEY MARONEY (nee KING) Peacefully in her 81st year in Toronto on April 29, 2011 in the comforting embrace of her husband of 57 years and her family. She was a loving and devoted wife to John and was much loved and will be missed by her children John, Michael, Dianne Hawkins, Lynne Walsh, Kim Pirone, Donna Pikul and Paul. Her grandchildren Carl, Mark, Tanya, Tyler, Melissa, Alexandra, Jennifer, T.J., Andrew, Andrea, Sarah, Cameron, Kyle, Kaitlyn, Kevin and Jack and her great-granddaughter Riley were always in her heart and she is loved and missed by them all. She was predeceased by her grandson Christopher, whose memory she cherished. She had a warm and close relationship with her sons-in-law Mark and Michael and her daughters-in-law Cheryl, Mary and Heidi. The eldest of eleven children, she will be missed by her sisters and brothers. Bargain Shirl was healthy and full of life and worked into her 80th year, until illness forced, from her perspective, an early retirement. She was loved, she will be missed. Kane Funeral Home (6150 Yonge St., Toronto, Ontario) Sunday, May 1, 2011 and Monday, May 2, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Rosary Parish (354 St. Clair Ave. W., Toronto, Ontario) Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the North York General Hospital Foundation. The family wishes to extend their thanks to the nurses and staff of the NYGH Chemo Clinic, 8 West, Dr. Robson and Dr. Allen for all their help.
