

Sister Trudy Zunti, CSJ (formerly Sister John Paul) died peacefully at the Sisters of St. Joseph Residence, 2 O’Connor Drive, Toronto, Ontario on Monday, December 2, 2024 in the 71st year of her religious life.
Sister Trudy is predeceased by her parents, Jacob and Paula Zunti, her sisters Lydia, Mary, Hedy, Bertha, Eva, Margaret and her brothers Rev. John Zunti, OMI, Robert, Jim, Edward, Fred, Joe, Morris, and Wilfred. She is survived by her sister Pauline and her brothers Tom and Charles. Sister Trudy will be sadly missed by her large extended family, friends and her Sisters in community.
Sister Trudy was born in Luseland, a small farming community in Saskatchewan. She joined the Sisters of St. Joseph of Toronto in September 1953 and soon moved into health care ministry. In 1965, she graduated from St. Michael’s Hospital School of Nursing and nursed at St. Michael’s Hospital and at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Comox, BC. In 1970 she began serving as a missionary in Guatemala. On her return to Canada in the 1980s, she continued pastoral ministry in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and then in Toronto. More recently, she volunteered as a greeter at Toronto’s St. Michael’s Hospital. She died peacefully at the Sisters of St. Joseph Residence where she had been receiving excellent care.
Visitation at the Sisters of St. Joseph Residence 2 O'Connor Drive, Toronto ON, on Thursday, December 5, 2024, 1:30 – 4:30 p.m. Reception of the body at 1:30 p.m. followed by Prayer Service 2 p.m. and Visitation 6:30 – 8 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 6, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. In the Chapel, at 2 O'Connor Drive, Toronto, Ontario
Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery at a later date.
