	-        for (serving as a Captain of the Polish Free Army) his valiant fight for us as European Jews                    and



	-        for giving his son Gord an exquisite upbringing and instilling in him the human and moral values that made us such good, loyal friends!



	Stanislaw Deska was among the last ones of a very special breed of heroes, a generation of fighters to which the world owes its post-WWII freedom and democracy, and we, in particular, owe our lives and the state of Israel owes its existence.



	The great regret I have is that I only met Mr. Deska once…I should have endeavored, in fact insisted to see him more often!

To Gordon, This a voice from your past, specifically public school. I just read the notice of your dad. I'm sorry to hear of your loss. My own mom died just last month in her 97th year, so your dad would be very close in age. My sympathies to you and your family.

Dear Norm, Gord, Lorraine, and families, We are so sorry to learn of the passing of your father. He had an amazing life, having lived 100 years and most of it being a very vibrant man. He also had an extrodinary military career and loved to share his experiences with all of us. We are all wiser because of him. I was privileged to see him on his 100th birthday and although he had declined significantly you could still see the spark in his eyes when I smiled at him.
