Sulochana Shanthakumar

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Shantakumar Mylabathula, along with their daughters Rani, Reka, Riva and Rupa, her son in-law Philip, her granddaughter Leiya, and sisters Nirmala, Vinny, and Vara.

Sulochana will be remembered as a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother, who was wholly devoted to her family and dedicated all her life to our father. In our father’s own words, she was the best wife, mother and grandmother. She will be remembered for her strong and unwavering faith in Jesus Christ and amazing commitment to her Church family. Sulochana will also be remembered for her 40+ years of incredible service in providing the utmost care and compassion as a Registered Nurse. Sulochana was a genuine example of selflessness, a woman of great strength and integrity, with a wonderful sense of humor.

Sulochana was born in Vikarabad, India to parents Reverend John Manikyam (Father) and Jaya Manikyam (Mother). With eight siblings, 2 brothers and 5 sisters, Sulochana stood third in line. She began her schooling in Vikarabad, India and furthered her studies in Stanley Girls High School located in Hyderabad, India. With her compassionate and genuine heart to care for others, Sulochana pursued her nursing training in Manipur, Karnataka and then started her nursing career in Bidar, India. After some time, Sulochana travelled to New York completing a 2-year nursing exchange program, and travelled to Canada where she began her career as a Registered Nurse. Sulochana worked in various hospitals such as: Toronto Western Hospital, Branson Hospital, and North York General Hospital. She also worked in various long-term care facilities and continued her service volunteering upon her retirement. Through her love for professional enhancement, Sulochana obtained numerous certificates and diplomas within the field of nursing, as well as contributing to teaching and training other health care professions.

Her memory will always remain in our hearts.
