Donna, Gary, Kathy and Family: We are deeply saddened by the news of your father's/grandfather's passing. We remember Tom as being a very enjoyable person to be around, someone who had a great sense of humour which would be expressed through the many stories of his past. He always seemed to put others first and kept their best interest in mind. He was definitely a people person. He had a great way with his grandchildren and it was obvious they adored him. Conversation would flow with ease as Tom was a very sociable, boisterous person. At the corn roast each and every year, Tom would be the first to greet us when pulling up to the house. He would always keep the family entertained and involved acting as tour guide on the much anticipated hay rides. Everyone looked forward to the hayrides, but no one more than he. We knew Tom loved his wife Helen. They completed one another. He missed her dearly after she had passed away. Once she was gone, we sensed he had a longing for his other half. At the end of the night, when it was time for us to go, Tom would send us off with the same expression every time, "God bless and safe trip" but now it is time for us to wish him well. God bless and safe trip, Tom. We will miss you dearly.

I always enjoyed Mr. Stapleton’s daily trips to Loblaw’s. He would keep me up to date about the weather, the roads and the latest changes at Loblaw’s. Often he would tell me about his successful search for good fish and chips ending at a great place on Royal York Rd., where he often went after taking flowers to his wife’s grave. I was touched when he described how he had her picture in his room and would talk to her. Many times he was near tears when he described how his wife had worked so hard choosing Christie Gardens and never had a chance to enjoy the new home. I’m sure Mrs Stapleton never enjoyed brushing her teeth as apparently one of her jobs was attaching tops to toothpaste tubes. His family was very important to him and he was very proud of their accomplishments. Whenever they visited, he would always introduce me to them so I could relate the face with his prideful family stories. Mr Stapleton shared many stories about his days unloading box cars, armed forces tales and of course his police career. I was amazed when he showed me his armed forces ID and discharge papers. He scared a few little old ladies when he played his trumpet. Many times residents would step carefully around him as he demonstrated proper parade square and marching techniques. He loved his police career and always spoke highly of his fellow workers. Mr Stapleton made my day more interesting and I will miss him.

Dear Donna, Kathy and Garry, It was with great sadness that we heard of your Dad's passing,Tom is now with Helen and in this time of grief, that knowledge has to help with these difficult days and the healing process that follows. Your parents became our friends, a friendship that lasted nearly 32 years, and were godparents to our oldest daughter Rebecca.So from two "Northampton kids' and our children, our thoughts and prayers are with you and your families.
