It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Tom Nicholas Tantsidis on July 15, 2025, at the age of 28.Tom was a gentle, loving soul whose simplicity and sincerity touched the lives of many. He was a person who saw the good in everyone and lived by a deep sense of justice and compassion.
Tom had a soft spot for the less fortunate and carried a fierce belief that money should never dictate the most important decisions in life. His generosity extended far beyond his close friends—he was the kind of person who would help anyone in need, often putting others before himself.
He grew up in Thornhill, a lively and adventurous boy from the start. In Junior Kindergarten, while others sat reading, Tommy climbed bookshelves. His playful spirit came alive in costume performances for family and friends, and on the soccer field during his elementary school years.
Tom found joy in the simple pleasures: cooking, long walks in nature, riding his bike, and playing computer games. He was especially proud of his poker skills. One of his earliest and fondest culinary accomplishments was at 13 years old, when he prepared a full Mother’s Day lunch—a heartfelt gesture his mother still remembers as the best she's ever had. That passion stayed with him, leading him to pursue a career in the hospitality industry, where his natural talent and warmth shone.
Tom was a culinary adventurer. He was not afraid to try new cuisine and unfamiliar ingredients. He often picked the most exotic food on the menu to try.
Tom was always ready to help out—organizing, cleaning, and quietly easing burdens. He enjoyed working outdoors and eagerly picked up trade skills, never afraid to get his hands dirty. He also had a great sense of humor, often laughing at himself and sharing stories of his own misadventures, like the time in Hungary when he mistakenly brought his young cousin’s passport to the casino.
A devoted son, Tom took on the role of caregiver to his late father, Alex, who battled Parkinson’s for many years. With patience and maturity well beyond his years, Tom cared for his father with unwavering love and responsibility.
Tom's life, though short, was rich in love, kindness, laughter, and service. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Tom will be forever missed by his mom, Monika, his stepdad, Enayat, Grandma, Marika, grandpa, George, aunt Liz, Edit and Dora, Uncle Chris and Barry, , cousins Olivia, Mitch, CJ and many other family members :Eva, Jancsi, Thomas, Krisztina, Tim, Monique, Jacob, Judit, Andi, Wolfgang, Amelie, Robin, Tomas, Anna, Tristan and many others.
May his gentle soul rest in peace.
A visitation for Tom will be held Thursday, July 31, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Kane-Jerrett Funeral Homes, 8088 Yonge Street, Thornhill, ON L4J1W3, followed by a memorial service from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, with a reception that will follow the service, from 1-2 pm.
