Aunt Min will be always remembered for her gentleness, her kindness, her smile, her being friendly and generous to us and people in need like children at the hospital. She welcomed my husband Darrin into the family with all of her love and kindness and he always keeps a warm spot of her in his heart and Aunt Min came to the hospital the night Nicole our daughter came into the world and even let us take a picture of her, Dianne and Nicole. I will remember the visit where Aunt Min and Nicole went for a ride on her bed. They enjoyed going up and down. Auntie Min will always be in our hearts. She made the best brownies ever and she couldn't share her recipe as she didn't measure the ingredients. I will remember our sharing of tea and Scottish shortbread cookies. I remember the times when Dianne and I would do things together and Aunt Min and Aunt Sandra and my sister Charmaine would blame us for this and that and Dianne and I were always innocent! Love you lots.

My relationship with Aunt Min usually involved my teasing her, and having her react to my comments, with her famous grin. Aunt Min was the youngest of the eight brothers and sisters in the family. My mother, Eliza, was the second youngest. These 2 sisters were similar in so many ways. They were both strong determined women (some would use the word, STUBBORN). They were hard-working. They instilled strong family values in their children. They told stories, sometimes made up stories, and sang old Scottish songs. They taught us to love the bagpipes. I'm glad that Len F. was able to be here and play today. Many of my memories go back to the days when our 2 families travelled together. Down in Old Orchard Beach, Maine, in 1962. It was very hot. the sand was extremely hot. MY mom and Aunt Min decided to bury their feet in the sand to keep them cool. The result was second degree burns. We drove to Wildwood, New Jersey, Dianne was always my navigator, in my old '58 Pontiac. Dianne and I decided to rent an old fishing boat and go out on the ocean. The old boat didn't go very fast, but we went for a ride in front of the beachfront. When we got back 2 hours, later, there was Aunt Min and Mom ready to call the police to go looking for the bodies. Some hot summer nights, in Montreal, we would jump in the car and head to the A&W Root Beer Stand in Montreal North, for a cold root beer and chips. On some weekends, we'd head for Plattsburg NY, where the root beer was only 5 cents and tasted better. But what stands out most about Aunt Min is her special love for Dianne. Aunt Min and Dianne were mother and daughter, they were sisters, they were best friends, and they were "buddies". They took care of each other. They made clothes for each of my children, and always gave them special gifts, signed "Auntie Min & Dianne". They did the same for my grandson, Lucas. When Aunt Min had a stroke 8 years agu, Dianne looked after her day and night in that special relationship that they had shared for so many years. You did a fantastic job, Dianne. My name is Wanda Chamberlain and I have been helping Dianne look after Min for nearly the past 5 years.  When I first came - to stay with Min while Dianne slipped out and did some errands - it was readily apparent that Min did not think she needed me.  I think I was thought of as a baby sitter and she was certainly no baby.  But as much as she had the infamous Grinton stubbornness - I come from a strong Scottish background too - and it was a battle of the wills.  We soon discovered a multitude of similar likes and dislikes thou, and fairly quickly became good friends.  I've heard stories - past and present of the Grinton, Murphy and Draper families - and I have you all at quite the disadvantage in that regard!  So be on your best behaviour or I'll share some that are not included in the eulogy!  As the years have progressed and Min has regressed she remained mentally sound, and sharp witted, she was wirey and feisty - but at the same time loving and devoted to her family.  She worried about the young ones, and always wanted to be helpful in some way.  Of course most of all - she worried about "her Dianne".  Since Dianne and Min have been such a big part of my recent life - it is only natural that they have become part of my family and all of us - from my parents and husband and children - to my cousins and nieces and nephews ( and my brother-in-law  - the Rev. ) share in this loss with you.  We all have learned many life lessons from her just from listening to her stories - and boy could she tell a story!  I am thankful that Dianne shared her Mum with me and allowed me to become like a second daughter to her - the 3 of us, seemed to have kindred souls.  In the end - it seemed like not only did she need me - I needed her, and I am honoured that I have shared in her life and I will treasure the memories I have of our times together.

Dear Aunt Minnie,

	As am standing here today, I am remembering all the good times we had.  I remember coming for Christmas and Easter dinners, we would be in the living room or at the table with the family, talking about all the wonderful and new things happening in our life's.  I remember all the smiles and laughter on everyone's faces. I loved coming to  visit you.  I was actually planning on seeing if I could come and visit you and Dianne this weekend. I always enjoyed coming up for visits, I never wanted to leave.  You always brought a smile upon my face. You made me feel good, and you always made me laugh.  Even though I haven't seen you for awhile, I was thinking of you.  Am going to miss all your hugs and kisses, as while as your smile. 

	I always remember you with a smile on your face, laughing with everyone around you.  Aunt Minnie you have been a wonderful person, and most of all a wonderful aunt.  You were always a positive person, who cared very much about everyone, you had an amazing heart filled with lots of love.  You always seemed to enjoy life, you always seemed to treasure time spent with your family.

	You are going to be missed not just by me, but by everyone. Am going to miss you a lot, but I will love you forever.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Dianne at this time of loss of your mother. We were sorry that we missed the funeral because we were out of the country. May you find comfort in the good memories you have of your mom. You looked after her so well and made her last years better by being in her own home. Our daughter Mackenzie has a rare genetic disorder called Tuberous Sclerosis Complex.  The repercussions of this disease are too numerous to mention, but specific to this story are the facial lesions that can occur.  Three years ago we had to travel to the United States for treatment of these lesions as the technology here in Canada specific to TSC just did not compare...
When Mrs. Draper and Dianne heard what we had planned and the road trip we were about to go on, they both quickly packed up a care package full of fun things to keep the kids entertained on our 10 hour drive.  But the most special item was a doll, complete with her own white knitted dress that Mackenzie quickly fell in love with.  We were so touched that these two women, whom we had never met, but have a connection with through my sister Wanda, would care so much about our daughter, and our family.    Mackenzie took that doll everywhere; she cuddled it in the car, clung to it before her surgery and cradled it in her arms after the surgery.  She loved that doll, and knew that she was loved because of the special kindness of two wonderful women that she had never met.
And last night as we paid our respects to Mrs. Draper, we learned that roses were her favourite, and she was at peace in pink with the beautiful rose embellishments surrounding her...and that's when it struck me, three years ago Mackenzie had named her doll in the beautiful white dress...Rose.
