After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Bill passed away peacefully surrounded by family on November 10, 2018 at age 61. Dear best friend to Sharon, beloved father to Shannon and Jennifer and father-in-law to John Lynch. Loving grandfather to Aidan, Liam, Sean and Scarlet. Dear son of Loretta and the late Joe. Special big brother to Donna, Gerry (Kelley), Bob (Heather) and Gayle Gioiosa (Vito). Awesome Uncle to Elliot, Madison, Grace, Eleri, Holly, Connor and Ryan. Bill was loved by so many cousins and dear friends, and he was known in so many ways – ‘Billy Joe’, ‘Sir William’, ‘Bill M’, ‘Wilber’ and our favourite ‘Rocker Bill’, thanks to his iconic rock vest, love of his many guitars and of course his love of music, especially heavy metal. Despite all the nicknames, he was known to all as a man with incredible integrity and strength, a huge kind heart, much wisdom, a vast knowledge of all things sports, especially his beloved Leafs and just a really cool dude. He taught us all how to be positive and love unconditionally. His legacy will live on through the impact he has made on so many of us. Heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Palliative Care Unit at North York General Hospital for their compassionate care. Visitation will be held at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home, 6150 Yonge Street (at Goulding, south of Steeles) on Wednesday, November 14 from 2-4pm and 6-9pm. Funeral mass at St. Edward The Confessor Church, 75 Churchill Avenue, on Thursday, November 15 at 10:30am, followed by a Celebration of Bill’s Life. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. Condolences www.rskane.ca.
