It is with great sadness that the family of William Ray Turner announces his passing on Fathers Day, Sunday June 21, 2009 after a valiant and courageous battle with ALS at the age of 71. Ray is survived by his wife Linda, his three children Laurie, Kathryn and Scott and his three grandchildren Matthew, Stephanie and Alexei, all of whom had come together to celebrate him on Fathers day. He was a loving husband and father and is deeply loved and will be greatly missed. In addition, Ray worked tirelessly for the ALS and prostate cancer communities volunteering his time, raising awareness and most importantly assisting others in coming to terms with these debilitating diseases. He will be remembered by all those he touched and forever will be in the hearts of his family and friends. An open Visitation will take place on Thursday, June 25, 2009 from 7-9 p.m. at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home (6150 Yonge Street, at Goulding, south of Steeles). A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 26, 2009 at 11:00 a.m in the Chapel. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the ALS Society of Ontario.
