Passed away peacefully at Extendicare Bayview at the age of 95, just shy of her 96th birthday. She was our family's stoic matriarch, a strong, fierce woman who was passionately devoted to her family and friends. She leaves behind her loving son-in-law, Peter, granddaughter Cindy (Howard), and great-grandchildren, Leah and Clara.
She was predeceased by her daughter Serena who she loved dearly and thought of often. Upon Serena's passing, Yuk Har Wong raised her granddaughter Cindy in a country that was foreign to her. Yuk Har Wong loved cooking, cleaning and providing for her family and raising Cindy to the best of her abilities. She treated family and friends alike; she became a surrogate mom and po-po to many. She loved going out with her church friends, playing Mahjong, eating dim sum, going to Chinatown and playing with Leah and Clara. Special thanks to the staff at Extendicare Bayview and Mrs. Jia Jing Li who lovingly cared for Yuk Har Wong.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Canadian Cancer Society (Cancer.ca) in Yuk Har Wong's name.
Visitation will be held the R.S. Kane Funeral Home, 6150 Yonge St. (at Goulding, south of Steeles) on Monday, April 30th from 10am until time of the Funeral Service at 11am.
