Anna Darlene Parks was born June 9, 1926 in Peru, Iowa to Pauline (Fortune) Barker and Gail Barker. Darlene attended school in Madison County, Iowa and Jefferson, Iowa and graduated from North High School in Des Moines, Iowa in 1944.
On May 9, 1945 she was married to Kenneth David Parks in Des Moines, Iowa. After he returned home from the US Navy following the end of World War II, they remained in Des Moines until September 1961 when they moved to Denver.
They retired in June 1991. Kenneth passed away on June 19, 1998.
Darlene is survived by her daughter, Susan (Bruce) Hunter of Brighton, CO; and two sons: Bud (Kay) Parks of Garland, TX; and Paul (Carolyn) Parks of Chestertown, N.Y. She is also survived by three grandsons: David Hunter of Denver; and John Paul and Josh Parks of Garland, TX; six great-grandchildren, her two sisters: Myrtle Dooley of Sun City, AZ and Betty Overton of Florissant, CO; three brothers: Norman Barker of Oregon, Ken Barker of Arizona, and Larry Barker of Georgia.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters: Terril (Mickey) Overton, and Thelma Dooley Curtis; and her brother Don Barker.
