

Bartholemew Joseph Alvarado, a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, of Northglenn, Colorado passed away peacefully on October 7, 2017. He is survived by his children , Daniel (Yefka), Debra, Sharon (Paul), Susan Anderson (Marvin), and Juan, eight grandchildren, Brandon Lopez, Darci Anderson, Seneca Alvarado (Arolda), Mangas Alvarado, Darren Anderson, Stephanie Leonard, Mckenzie Leonard, Naja Alvarado, and four great-grandchildren, Madison Ortiz, Vanessa Lopez, Damian and Najeli Jo Alvarado, his sister Hope Ulibarri and his brother Max Alvarado, and an abundance of nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Frances, daughter Jo Ann Leonard (Steve) and grandson Travis Anderson.
Bart was born in Billings, Montana but grew up in Brule and Ogallala, Nebraska. He joined the Air Force on July 2, 1948 and retired as a Master Sergeant in 1968. He began working for the USDA as a food inspector in 1970 until his retirement in 1988. Bart was strong in his Catholic faith and was a highly committed and dedicated volunteer within the Archdiocese. He was an avid gardener enjoying vegetables grown in his “north forty” and beautiful roses around the grotto containing the Blessed Virgin Mary that he himself built for his wife Frances. In addition to his faith, he was very devoted to all his family that are too numerous to name.
A Viewing and Rosary will be held on Monday, October 16th at Holy Cross Catholic Church at 9371 Wigham Street, Thornton, CO. The Viewing is to be held from 5:00pm – 7:00pm, followed by a Rosary. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, October 17th at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Olinger Highland Memorial Park at 10201 Grant Street, Thornton, CO. Family will greet friends and family following the interment at Holy Cross Catholic Church reception hall.
