Reading the other things people have written about Aunt Belen makes me smile. It reminds me she was a true blessing to all of us. My heart is full of woe and joy at the same time, knowing that she's at rest. Peter, Hope, Vonnie, Rollie and Cindy, and all of Auntie's family, I wish you love and peace.

When I was all of 16, Mrs. Garcia took me under her wing to teach me how to read music. At the time, I was in high school and preparing for the lead role in the musical Damn Yankees (which she got a kick out of). I ventured to the church on Lawrence (which I believe is long gone now) and she effortlessly taught me the singing parts and along the way, showed me how music becomes elegance in so many ways. Whats more, the rules of tempo and cadence apply to everyday life and business. I lesson I continue to practice to this very day.

Once evening, she played "Me & Bobby McGee" on the organ for me. It was truly breathtaking. And, not a moment goes by that I do not thin of her whenever I hear that tune on the radio.

Bonnie and Roland, Peter and Hope,  Cindy, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, we trust that the Holy Spirit will comfort you now and in the days to come.  Belen blessed so many with the musical talent that she shared and passed on to her children and grandchildren. I was only 5 years of age, attending my uncle Nato Hernandez's church (Templo Getsemani) in Denver, and remember Belen Garcia as if I attended yesterday.  I vividly recall her musical talent in singing, playing the piano and the organ.  What struck me, even at that early age, was her devout passion for the Lord.  It must have left quite an impression because I have never forgotten her as well as the rest of her family; brother Garcia, Pete, Bonnie, and especially Cindy, who was a very close friend to my cousin Cecelia Hernandez (who my family always calls Pearl).  May God see the Garcia family through this very difficult time.  Your mom made an impact to so many!

Belen Garcia, who I knew as "Mamabel" since my teen years was my youth leader and piano mentor in  our church, Templo Getsemani before my conversion and after.  She was a special lady who was largely responsible for my decision to accept Jesus as my personal savior.  Because of her faithful witness, I gave the Lord my life and dedicated it to Him for service at a very crucial point in my life.  I will always be grateful to her for her steadfast love for people and the Lord, and I am sure she is rejoicing with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

We love you Grandma Belen. We will miss you and can't wait to see you in heaven.
