Bill P. Ortega passed away January 8, 2024, in his home in Denver, Colorado, at the age of 90.
Bill was born in San Acacio, Colorado on October 3, 1933, to David Ortega and Gertrude Garcia. He was wed to the love of his life June Herrera in 1954. Bill and June were married for 69 years and had a son and 3 daughters.
Bill proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He was a Staff Sergeant with the 812th Strategic Air Command and was stationed in Chinhae during the Korean War. Bill was the recipient of: The National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the United Nations Service Medal.
Before his service, he worked at Union Pacific Railroad. After the military, Bill worked at Sunstrand Corporation in Denver, Colorado, for 37 years as a Quality Control Engineer.
Bill was a friend to everyone and was always quick with a joke and a smile. He will be dearly missed.
He is survived by a large family: including his wife June, 3 daughters (Barb, Bev, Patti), 6 grandchildren (Sara, Brandon, Amanda, Tony, Brooke, Tim) and 10 great grandchildren (Julene, Lauren, Amaya, Giovanni, Silas, Riley, Lila, Aria, Shae, and Maisie), He is also survived by 9 brothers and sisters.
Bill was preceded in death by his son Bill, his grandson Justin and his brother LeRoy.
