After moving to Colorado as a teenager, Billy attended East High School in Denver. After graduation he enlisted in the US Navy in 1947 as an aviation structural mechanic. He served 22 years and retired as a Senior Chief Petty Officer in 1969. During his career, Senior Chief Peeples was assigned as a combat aircrewman in naval patrol squadrons during the Korean war. Senior Chief Peeples also served in helicopter anti-submarine and in Naval Attack Squadron VA-145 on board the USS INTREPID CVA-11 during the Vietnam war in 1967. Senior Chief Peeples awards include Air Medal (21 combat missions), Navy Achievement Medal, China Service Medal, National Defense (1947 to end of WW2 emergency), Korean War Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and United Nations Medal). After Senior Chief Peeples retired from the Navy, he continued his work in aviation working at Buckley ANGB where he worked on F-100 Super Sabre Fighter Jets from the 140th Fighter Wing. Billy's aviation career included working for both Frontier and Continental Airlines until his retirement in 1995. Billy's involvement in community service continued as a volunteer with meals on wheels, the Knights of Columbus, Navy Fleet Reserve Association and other organizations. Billy was a loving, faithful husband and father. And he was very creative and an artist with high ingenuity skills for building and fixing almost anything mechanical. His sense of humor was unparalleled.
Billy married Georgia Peeples in 1950. They were married until 2000 when Georgia died. He is survived by his children, Robin Kunze and her husband, Jim; Chris Peeples and his wife, Sue, and their children Yoshanna, Nick, and Shawn; Will Peeples and his wife, Laura and their daughter Camille; Patrick Peeples and his wife, Christina, and their son, Alex; Andrew Peeples and his wife, Lori, and their children Susanne, Andrew, Catherine, Nate, and Matthew; and Matthew Peeples and his wife, Betsy, and their son Matthew Jr. He also had 5 great grandchildren from Georgia’s side.
Billy married Lucille Peeples in 2002, and is also survived by Lucille and her children Christine and her husband, Doyle, and their children Steven, Justin, Joelle, and Janel; Linda Sauer and her daughter Nikki; and Randy, and his son, Dustin, and his stepdaughters, Katy, Sarah, Asia, Renee, Jillian, and 15 great-grandchildren from Lucy’s side. Preceded in death by sons, Steve and Rodney.
The Recitation of the Holy Rosary will take place Thursday, December 12th, at 6:00pm at Olinger Highlander Mortuary, 10201 Grant St, Thornton, CO. A visitation with family will be held afterward from 6:30 - 8:00pm at the same location. The Funeral Mass will be held on Friday Dec 13, 2019 at 1100 am at Immaculate Heart Catholic Church, 11385 Grant Dr, Thornton, CO. The internment and military honors will be held January 15, 2020 at Chapel Hills cemetery in Centennial, CO.
