Today marks one year since you returned to our Heavenly Father. Not one day goes by that you are not missed and loved. I miss your laughter and your jokes. I miss the little trips to get your Opinion Newspaper or to go to the store. I know that you are watching over all of us, I can't wait till the day that i can see you again.

I had the privilege of having Braulio live with our family for many years & he was a great example to us.
I personally witnessed his love for his Dogs, 
I remember one time he was going away for the weekend and he asked me if I would feed his dogs. I said “sure Braulio” my thought was how hard could it be to put dog food in a bowl? To my surprise Braulio gave a me course on how to prepare his dogs meals which actually looked pretty good.
Braulio was a faithful man. He would always invite me to go with him to administer a blessing.  No matter what time of the day, Braulio was ready to serve. At the time I did not realize Braulio was actually teaching me how to exercise my Priesthood through his example. 
Braulio was always thinking of others.  When I worked odd hours Braulio would offer to pick up his grandchildren from school just so I could get a few more hours of sleep. 
Braulio was ready at a moment’s notice to go eat at a restaurant.  I remember telling Braulio that Liz & I were going out to grab dinner,  he would respond, “ ok let me put my shoes on and I will go with you.”
During the summer Braulio would like to sit in the garage with the garage door open to read his books or newspapers. Then he’d walk around the house with his can of raid to fend off a fly that would slip into the house through the garage.  I remember Braulio and I were eating lunch one day and there was a fly flying around the table,  the next thing I remember was Braulio getting ready to spray the raid at the fly and all I heard next was Epy saying “Braulio la comida!” This was the only time I saw Braulio blush .
Going to the Temple, to Gen Conf Priesthood Sessions, to soccer games & so many more experiences & memories I will always cherish. 
Not many people could live with their in-laws. In my case, having them with us was a great blessing and having Braulio as my Father in Law was too.

My Tata always brought such happy energy into every room. He loved dogs and I remember he always had, at least, one while I was growing up. When he would see my cat he'd hiss at it. He'd act like he didn't like it, then he would kneel down and pet my cat and give him treats.

He always kept chocolate bars in the fridge to snack on. My tata would eat chili peppers like they were also candy! He always thought about other people, He'd bring home my favorite pan dulce each time he went to the store. 

One time, Matt and I were visiting California. We decided to go to the Spanish ward with my grandparents. At the time, my Tata was the chorus leader. There were some people missing that day so he asked us to participate. We were not expecting that, but we had such a great time. Singing with him and my Nana was priceless.

He loved to dance. Oh, how I wish I would've danced with him more at celebrations. 

I love you Tata and I look forward to feeling your embrace and hearing your laugh again. 

My Tata was my best friend. From a young age I spent a lot of time with him, whether it was road trips, fishing trips, trips to Home Depot to build something, he always took his little chicle with him. Even when I became an adult he would still take me with him wherever he would go. It’s hard knowing that I won’t hear his laugh or his raspy voice, I won’t hear him screaming at the tv because his soccer team missed a goal, I won’t hear him calling me “viejo feo” even though I always told him we looked like twins. My gordi lonjas made me the man I am today, he taught me patience and compassion. I was fortunate enough to spend most of my life with him. I will always cherish our memories together. I loved him so much, he was a funny, loving person. He always knew how to make people laugh. I love you mi gordi lonjas. I won’t say goodbye, but I will say see you soon. 

Hermano Vera not only liked to dance but supported his family to participate in his culture by learning and performing Mexican Dance.  He was our official picture taker so I never got a picture of him but I remember him always being there with his camera.  His children were an integral part of our lives for all the time that we performed.
When we met in the Los Angeles temple a few years ago, his joy was so evident that we had to remind him to be more quiet.  His joy filled my heart since I felt that same joy in seeing him again.
The last time we saw each other, we were visiting in Utah and were welcomed by his daughter Rosalba.  When he arrived to find us visiting, again his beautiful smile filled my heart.
Thank you for being the kind and loving person that I have in my heart.
To your family, I know what loss of a dad and granddad can be.  It is painful and the void can never be filled but it can be comforted by knowing that he loved you and everyone he met.  Thank you for sharing him with us.

My dad was like no other

Over the years I’ve come to realize just how much my dad has done for me and I’m extremely grateful for him.
 
My dad was someone I could talk to and he always shared some of his stories and fatherly wisdom with me. Through his stories he would correct me when I was wrong, counsel me and showed he believed in me. He always used his personal experience from his difficult and trying life to help me be better. His love for us was unconditional and he always wanted us to have the best life we could have.
 
I'll never forget the love he had for my mom.  Even as the years went by and her illness progressed,  he loved and tenderly cared for her.
 
My dad spent countless hours with his grandchildren too. He was one of the biggest role models in their life’s. He saw each of my kids from the moment of their births up until each of them left to college. His constant love and support in their lives made him easily one of their biggest fans. His presence was always felt even when they weren't physically close.

My dad was usually the one sharing the jokes and smiling all the time. He had such a positive outlook in life and always saw the good in people. While waiting with us to be seated at a restaurant instead of sitting reserved and quietly he would start talking to any person nearby.
 
Everyone that met my dad loved his charm and could feel his strong spirit. He created lasting and numerous memories with everyone he met, and he remembered them all! My  father was not a shy man, he was never afraid to talk to anyone and everyone. He could talk about anything to anyone. It didn't matter what the subject was, he could always find the exact topic to open up a conversation. His wit, sense of humor, and especially his laugh will forever echo in our hearts

I remember that my father loved his dogs with all his heart and would put in so much time and effort taking care of them. He would groom them, take them to the vet, and make sure they had all of their necessary shots. It still makes me smile thinking that sometimes I'd catch him out in the backyard late at night just playing and talking to his German Shepherds. 

He could be so focused on his interests. I couldn't count the hours he spent doing word searches & crossword puzzles, coin collecting, refurbishing wood furniture, and gardening. He was always up to join in on any family tradition, even putting on our matching christmas pajamas.

I really miss the time spent with him, whether it was having breakfast, running errands, going to doctor appointments and eating ice cream.
 
My children and I loved spending time with him. Even though these moments have passed and now lie in our history. I'm glad that my kids and I have these memories to cherish and remember. I know that he'll always be watching over us and one day we'll see him again.

Tata I have been putting this off because it still hurts so much now that you are gone.  I can find solace in knowing you were ready even though I was not ready for you to leave. There is so much about you that will be missed. You always told us that you were Clark Kent and in my eyes you are Superman, a hero. Something that I will miss is your loud boisterous laugh and how it was easy to make you laugh.  There was always a huge smile on your face, showing those strong real teeth of yours :) I love how you would eat anything and were never picky or rude. One time I tried making cinnamon rolls and did not have any more flour to knead the dough and so I used baking soda and when they came out they tasted so bitter and gross; yet, there you were the next morning sitting at the table eating them like nothing was wrong with them.  I remember how every time I asked for you to pass me something you would always say "$5" and I would tell you, "Okay, my mom will pay for it".  Sometimes it gets hard imagining this life without you on this Earth and I still cry when I think of you or see any pictures of you because it hurts, it hurts and there is sadness but only because I miss you, so so much. It is getting a little better each day because at least there is prayer that can relay my messages to you when I seek guidance or simply need someone to talk to. You are the best Tata anyone could ever ask for and I am so blessed to have had your physical presence in this natural life. There is hope that your spirit will continue to check on me and to be a guardian angel. I love you so much Tata! Superman!

I have such fond memories of my uncle.  I remember when we first went to Mexico and met you for the first time.   He was the brother my mom never had.  He was funny and always full of energy.  God bless him being surrounded by so many females.  He loved sports and always willing to coach and guide us.  I was very lucky to have him in my life looking after us and my grandma after mom passed.  Tio I love you and may you soar with the Angels of heaven.  Please look after my grandma and my mom.  Til we meet again. 

 Braulio had the rare ability to find fun and enjoyment in every situation. Some of the stand out memories are of him dancing at parties and eating out at ANY type of restaurant. He loved to go basically anywhere, even if it was just to lunch at Costco where he always left me in the dust as he rushed around the store. I’m so grateful that he and Epy were able to come live with us and I’m just sorry it wasn’t for more time. I feel cheated in that regard but I know he is continuing to do the Lords work I look forward to being able to see him again.

Tio Braulio you will be sorely missed by all who know you!!! You had a most unique way of making people feel special and feel your love:) I know that you were needed on the other side of the veil to continue to share this gospel of love. You learned it and lived it well here on this earth. You leave behind an amazing posterity that learned your lessons well!! I remember coming to visit with my parents (Lupe and Betty) to California and we stayed with your sweet daughter Liz. You and Epy were living there at this time. We stayed up late just chatting and eating and enjoying each others company!!! Your children are so very giving and kind they are all remarkable individuals!!! You taught them well!!! My son Julian served a mission to the California San Jose Mission and he had the privilege of giving your son a blessing. When you saw his name you asked about his family and you then knew that he was my son. That he was family!!! That was a very special experience for my Elder Figueroa at that time. He felt honored to have been able to serve one of our extended family members. This is truly a gospel of love and service!! Thank you for teaching us all by your example of endless serve and love!!! Tio Braulio may you now rejoice with those beyond the veil and work your kindness and goodness there!! Til we meet again Tio Braulio!!!

I met the Veras when I returned from my mission at Belvedere ward, they were a sweet couple with a lot of little girls and they loved their family. 
You could see that by the way they looked at their children, you could see it in their eyes and the kind way they managed them. 
It was also evident in the way they looked at each other. Any encounter with this family was always positive. I loved them too and will hope to continue to interact with them in a better place. 
I bless their family that they be feel the comfort of Our Savior’s love and rejoice in the knowledge that love conquers all, even death. Thank you for your friendship.

When we were young, our dad, Braulio, had to work very hard to provide for our family.    At this particular time dad was working 3 jobs.  His full-time day job,  then to work at Jack in the Box for a few hours and come home around midnight or so...he then would sleep for a few short hours and wake up between 2am - 4am to go deliver newspapers for the Los Angeles Times.  Sometimes he would take us with him to help him carry papers and hold the elevators while he threw the rolled newspaper to each office door in long hallways in these buildings downtown L.A.  At first it was fun for us because we had never been in these beautiful shiny skyscrapers before.  But after a while it wasn't fun anymore .  Us kids didn't want to wakeup so early to go to work.  Eeek!  Dad usually would take us because it would cut his time short and he could come home and sleep a little more. Sundays were the WORST!   The L.A. times was HUUGGGEE!!!  Tuesdays was a heavy paper also.  It was on a warm summer Tuesday morning when he came into our room and asked my sister and I to go with him to pass out the paper.  I was pretty perturbed and said, "no" I was too sleepy.    I realized I could swindle something out of it.  I told dad, "ok, I'll go.  But, will you take us to Zambo's ( a breakfast joint in L.A.) afterwards?"  He said, "Si, hombre" (ok, Man... in English). I wasn't going to miss out on that and I proceeded to wake up every single other sib and cousin of mine that had spent the night in our home.  After passing out the paper we went to Zambo's and we all had a wonderful breakfast.  When I saw dad pay the bill I noticed how much he had spent, math was my forte, I realized dad had spent about five days worth of income passing out the paper. (we were a lot of kids)  I felt so guilty, till this day I wish he would've told me not to wake up the others.  But he kept his promise.  My dad was a man of honor.  I will miss him every single day until I see him again.  

My dad is the best dad ever! He was always there for me and my siblings. He was my biggest cheerleader in what ever sport I played. He drove all over to take me to practice and games. He would get home tired from work, but he still found the energy to practice and help we get better. We would watch sports together. He would get so into the event/game he would yell at the refs or players. I will alway remember the year the Dodgers beat the Yankees in World Series. He was a Yankee fan and I was a Dodger fan. I teased him for days. He would tell me “no me hables”
He loved spending time with family and friends. He made everyone laugh and feel special when he was there.  He not only was a father to me and my sibling. He was a father to many of our cousins. 
I’m so grateful for the opportunity of having him live will us the last couple months. I wish I had him here longer. I miss calling him to let him know I was on my way home from work. Asking him what they wanted for dinner. I miss going to Costco and chasing him around. I miss spoiling him by buying him a jacket or what ever he was admiring.  Daddy I miss you so much. I know you are watching over us and specially for mom.  Thank you for making sure we are an eternal family! Until we meet again. I love you, your proud daughter!

Tío gracias por enseñarnos a disfrutar, a ser tolerantes, a sonreír, a ver el lado positivo de las situaciones por muy malas que las pudiéramos considerar, a dar gracias por la naturaleza, a estar alegres y contagiar a los que estaban cerca, parecía que nunca te cansabas porque siempre querías estar activo.
