Bruce Darrel Abbey

Bruce Abbey, a beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away on September 1, 2024, at the age of 62. Born on July 27, 1962, in Denver Colorado, and raised in Kiowa, Bruce was the cherished son of Darrel and Shirley Abbey and the adored sibling of Polly Ehlers.

Bruce is survived by his father, his sister, devoted wife, Brenda Abbey, and his former wife Rhonda Abbey-Friend, with whom he shared two wonderful children, Rebecca and Alaina Abbey. He is also lovingly remembered by his nephew Dan and niece Ashley. Through his marriage with Brenda he gained three more children, Nathan, Ariel, and Laurel, two son in laws, Josh and Daniel, and 5 grandchildren, Felicity, Merida, Peri, Asher, and Elia. His family and friends will remember him for his warmth, his infectious smile, and his love of life. He is loved by his church community and neighbors.

An avid sports and grilling enthusiast and an expert in dad jokes, Bruce found joy in sharing his passions with those around him and always cared for those he came across. Many people felt seen by Bruce because he would always remember names and ask about whatever was happening in their life.

Bruce’s kindness, generosity, and sense of humor touched many lives. He will be deeply missed by all who had an opportunity to know him. A memorial for Bruce will be held on Saturday September 14th, at 11am, at Landing Place Church (11555 Chambers Road, Commerce City Colorado).

Rest in peace, Bruce. You will forever remain in our hearts.
