Cassandra was born on December 8, 1981 to Jane and Roger O’Mahen. She grew up in Tucson, Arizona, and spent nearly every possible moment in the pool. She spent a semester of college in Idaho, then returned to Tucson to finish her studies in photography and Japanese at the University of Arizona. After graduation she moved to Gunpo, South Korea where she taught English for a year to elementary-school children. Together with her sister Sarah, she shared many adventures (and inside-joke-worthy mishaps!) while traveling throughout Korea, Japan, China, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Laos.
Always giving in times of need, after returning to the States she moved to Michigan where she lived with her sister Heather and brother-in-law Bob, and became a nanny to her beloved nephew Trystan. She returned to Arizona for a brief period to take care of her then-ill mother.
In 2008 Cassandra moved to Colorado and found where her heart belonged. She worked for a time with dogs before transitioning to a career in oral health as a dental tech. At her latest position she was chosen to help as an actor in a commercial for the company. So yes, she’s famous.
She married Sean September 10, 2010 in Colorado, and in September 2015 they renewed their vows in Wales. They created a warm and welcoming home for their friends and family, and traveled together to England, Portugal, Italy, and Colorado (where they would also try to go camping at least once a year).
Cassandra embraced Colorado and all it had to offer. She loved the mountains and could often be found hiking the mountains with her two dogs, Saber and Soli, skiing (particularly enjoying annual ski trips when her sister Sarah, brother-in-law Nate, and niece Madelyn would visit), snowmobiling, dog-sledding, snow-shoeing, paddle boarding, or out having fun and adventures with her friends
Cassandra was smart, strong, and straight-talking, and brought light to all those who knew her. She was easily identified by her unfairly amazing hair or her uninhibited laugh. Those close to her have memories or stories that include being absolutely goofy and giggling uncontrollably. She was gorgeous inside and out, and effortlessly good at everything she tried. She held integrity as her highest ideal.
She is survived by her parents Roger & Jane, her two other sisters and their spouses, Heather O’Mahen Willis & Bob Willis, and Sarah & Nate Curley, her nieces Isabel Willis and Madelyn Curley, her nephew Trystan Willis, her husband Sean Brenninkmeijer, and her parents-in-law and many siblings-in-law. She was predeceased by her sister Beth
We all love her so very much and will miss her beyond comprehension.
Her memorial service is Saturday, August 4 starting at 2 pm at Olinger Highland Mortuary, 10201 Grant Street in Thornton, Colorado. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers should be directed to either:
