

Charlene E. Holt was born in Shenandoah, Iowa to Martin and Flora Wittig on October 2,1937. In her younger years, she and her family including her parents, brother and sister moved to Boone, Iowa.The family later moved to Denver, Colorado. There, she attended North High School, and began working in the Berkley Park Neighborhood at a concession stand. There she met her beloved Don Holt while he was stationed at Lowry Air Force Base. They were married on December 18, 1955. She graduated North High School in 1956.
Charlene and Don had three children in Denver, and eventually moved to Columbus, Ohio in 1961. She and Don began working for a glass factory. For many years, she was a Cub Scout Den mother. Sadly, tragedy struck in 1972 and the family moved home to Colorado in 1973. She and Don settled in the Edgewater Neighborhood, close to where they had met, in 1974. That was the home they remained in until their passings.
When Charlene wasn't being a magnificent mother and wife, she could be found tending her flower gardens or feeding the outdoor animals, like squirrels, cats, dogs, and the like. Her major passion though was wolves. She visited the sanctuary a time or two.
On February 7, 2024, Charlene passed away in her home in Edgewater. She was 86 years old. Charlene is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Don; her son, Douglas; her daughter, Brenda; brother, Martin and sister, Annette Koch. She is survived by her son, Michael (Irma), 4 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren.
A visitation for Charlene will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Olinger Highland Mortuary, 10201 Grant St, Thornton, CO 80229, in the Tribute Suite. A memorial service will occur Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 1:00 PM also at Olinger Highland Mortuary. A committal service will occur Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Olinger Highland Cemetery.
