on August 8, 2025, at the age of 89, surrounded by her loving family.
Christine was born on July 15, 1936, on her family’s farm south of Holly, Colorado, to Albert and
Zephyra Borg. An only child, she was raised with the values of hard work, kindness, and faith. After
graduating with top honors from Holly High School in 1954, she pursued her calling in nursing in
Denver. Her career took her to several hospitals, but her most meaningful years were spent at
Lutheran Hospital in Wheat Ridge. Christine retired in 2001, leaving behind a legacy of compassion
and care.
On March 20, 1955, she married her high school sweetheart, James C. “Jim” Hixson. They shared
40 wonderful years together until his passing. Their marriage was blessed with three children —
Tracy, Troy, and Trisha—who were her pride and joy. Christine was a devoted and loving mother,
always placing her family first. With her quiet strength, gentle spirit, and ever -listening ear, she
became a source of wisdom and support, guiding her children and grandchildren through every
stage of life.
Christine loved to travel, filling many summers with family road trips across the country. After Jim’s
passing, she continued traveling with friends and especially cherished adventures shared with her
children and grandchildren. At home, she found joy in crocheting, creating beautiful gifts for loved
ones. She treasured her women’s crochet group, where she helped make prayer shawls and lap
afghans for those in need—an expression of her giving heart. Her faith remained central throughout
her life, and she was an active member of the Episcopal Church.
Christine was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jim, and her parents, Albert and Zephyra
Borg. She is survived by her three children:
• Tracy (Robert) Kirmer of Holly, CO, and their children Glenn Kirmer of Holly; Christopher
(Megan) Kirmer of Wiley, CO; and Lora (Dustin Michelson) Kirmer of Salina, KS.
• Troy (Christy) Hixson of Arvada, CO, and their children Tyler (Jasmine) Hixson of Denver,
CO, and Cameron (Nancy) Hixson of Denver, CO.
• Trisha (Andrew) Berry of Dillon, CO, and their children Nicholas (Leah) Berry of Ft. Lupton,
CO; Brittany (Drew) Terry of Colorado Springs, CO; and Nathan Berry of Westminster, CO.
She was blessed to welcome 4 great-grandchildren to the family: Isaac, Emma, and Luke Berry, and
Connor Hixson.
Christine will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her legacy of kindness, faith, and
devotion to family will live on in the lives she touched.
Services will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Olinger Highland Mortuary &
Cemetery.
