Clara Mae Spake

Clara M. Spake, “The Tax Lady” 92, left this earth for Heaven on November 12, 2025. She was born in Braxton, Mississippi on December 22, 1932. She graduated from Braxton as Valedictorian of her class in 1950. She married James A. Smith on April 6, 1951 and after his death, she married Donald K. Spake, who passed away in 1994 and they enjoyed 29 years of marriage. Clara raised 7 children: Trudy Daum, Judy Adams, Richard (Anita) SnyderSmith, J. Kevin (Sheila) Smith, Steven Smith, Ken (Sherry) Spake, and Barb (Mike) Koch. She also had 12 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Clara never met a stranger. Over the years her children would bring home strays (people and animals) and never turned one away. They all still call her mom or think of her as their mom. She always did what she loved. She travelled all over and has many pictures to prove that she did. She also loved her tax family. They were all very special to her and when she retired at 90, she was doing her clients great grandchildren’s taxes. Many years as a Tax Accountant, brought the best people along her path and she loved them all.

She will be greatly missed by her family, tax family and her friends and will be forever in our hearts.
