I was unaware of Dan's passing until just a few days ago and I'm very sorry I didn't know.  I worked for him in District 50 and he was wonderful to work for. He was honest, straightforward and the very best thing about him was that I believed he had my back. I respected him and I will always be grateful to him. I'm so sorry for this loss.

A great man with a great soul, his wife Lupe was my high school teacher in
Brighton.  Dan and Lupe were Teatro leaders at CU-Boulder.

Dan was a great person. I have been mentioning to peopel that he reminded me of the past mayor of Boulder, Pen Tate, who was a friend of mine.  He was an amazing organizer with a big heart.  We all appreciated the partnership with Dan's Adams 50 Voices and the Westminster Public Library.

I met Dan when I was 16 yrs old, and he taught me alot of what I know today he was a mentor of mine and will be missed greatly, my condolences to the family

Dan was always a true humanist and advocate for his students during the time we taught together at Fort Lupton. I always admired and respected Dan for his kindness, caring attitude and fostering of a "can do" attitude where nothing is impossible to achieve with effort and perseverance.  Dan and I both grew up in the Del Norte/Monte Vista area. I got to know Dan when he was a teenager.  He was always friendly and forward looking.  A very positive person to be associated with.  He had his challenges but never felt sorry for himself, instead he used his passion to help others. He will be greatly missed.

Dan and I were partners for four years at Clear Lake Middle School.  During that time I learned so much from him about the principal's job and about leadership.  He embodied empathy, humor, and together we created a whole new Spanglish vocabulary.  We laughed alot in what was a difficult job.  Daniela and Jonah, your father was a wonderful man!

I really enjoyed working with and taking Spanish classes with Mr. Vallez.  He was very passionate about the district, the children, and used great professionalism with each individual.  He enjoyed including everyone in the discussion and took special care to listen to information and concerns.

Dan, you'll be remember by all. I remember our fist adult ELA class at Metz and how much they worked. You opened the door for them.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.  Mr. Vallez will be greatly missed.  He was a genuine person and always made you feel welcome.

I will always remember Dan commenting on how important it was to be hard on the problem but not on the person.  He really walked his talk in regard to this.  Colorado public education will also suffer the loss of his talent.

Much of what I know about being a principal, I learned from Dan.  I cannot thank him enough.  My condolences to his kids.  I know he loved them so much.

I remember Danny from CU Boulder during the MAP and UMAS days. He was a gentle soul. My condolences to the family.

I will remember Mr. Vallez as a deeply caring, and wonderful man who always had a smile on his face and a spring in his step.  He was the kind of person who you are very fortunate to meet in your lifetime.  My sincere condolences to his loving family and friends.
