Dorothy Little passed away at the age of 86 on March 28, 2023. She was living at Park Regency Assisted Living in Thornton, Colorado and was found in her comfortable chair after having lunch. Apparently she suffered a mild heart attack.
She was born in Columbus, Ohio to parents Mildred and Clinton Hick. Dorothy had two sisters, Lillian, 8 years older and Mary, 1 ½ years older. Lillian is still going strong at 94 and Mary passed away several years ago.
Dorothy moved with her family into the house she grew up in on Derrer Road in 1940. As a child, she liked to ride her bike, sled on the hills in the park and ice skate. You would also find her in the park watching kids play baseball near her home. One thing she loved was to fix things with her Dad.
After graduating from West High School, in 1955 she married Major Joseph Little. This allowed her to travel the world as the wife of an Air Force Officer. For 3 years they lived in Seville, Spain. I think her final move total was 36 times. They divorced in 1991 and she moved to Colorado Springs. She then moved to Denver in 2000.
She enjoyed gambling, garage sales, drinking grasshoppers and listening to baseball games on the radio. She deeply loved her little dogs Frosty and Daisy.
She liked to go shopping and thrift store searching and then out to lunch with Theresa. She enjoyed flipping homes with Charlie and was the cleaner – organizer. David took her “up the hill” to the casinos in Black Hawk where she played the slot machines. She liked visiting David’s Great White Pyrenees dogs.
Dorothy is survived by her three children, Theresa Little Friedle born 1956, David Little born 1958 and Charles Little born 1961 and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
And to sum it up with her favorite and most memorable saying, “The kitchen is closed.”
Love You Mom.
