Edna Rivera Mercado

Edna Rivera Mercado passed away in Northglenn, CO on Friday, October 28th, 2022. Edna was born in Ceiba, PR on June 22, 1936 to Juan Rivera and Rufina Mercado. She married Ramon Gonzalez Solivan. He passed away in October of 1989. They had resided many years in Fajardo, PR where she continued to live several years after becoming a widow. She later moved to Colorado Springs, CO, Big Springs, TX, and then Northglenn, CO to be nearer her son, Benjamin, daughter-in-law and grandchildren.

Edna led a very full and active life. She had been a Christian and a member of the Worldwide Missionary Movement (MMM) for most of her life. At different stages of her life, she worked as a secretary for medical offices, and she became the President/Owner of Gonzalez Trucking Company, Inc. providing services for the eastern region of Puerto Rico, all of which she was very good at and which she truly enjoyed. She loved traveling, spending time with her family and friends. She loved playing dominos, checkers and Chinese checkers. In addition, she enjoyed singing Christian songs, reading the Bible, books, coloring books, playing her guiro at church services, and doing word search and puzzles.

She is survived by her children, Rafael, Sofia, Ramón, Jeandelize, and Benjamin; daughters-in-law, Annette, Amalia and Madeline; ten grandchildren, Omar, Joel, Ramón Luis, Omar, Edna Marie, Joshua, Christian, Alba Lidia, Tylson, and Benjamin; eight great-grandchildren, Jasmine, Noah, Chad, Omar, Noah, Alba Sofia, Alayis, and Avery; and her loved nephews and nieces.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three sisters, and one brother. She will be buried in Fajardo, PR beside her husband. She will be dearly missed by her family and many friends.

A gathering for Edna will be held Saturday, November 12, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Olinger Highland Mortuary & Cemetery, 10201 Grant St., Thornton, CO 80229, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM.
