Elvin was born and raised in Cheyenne County, Colorado where he grew up working on the family farm alongside his favorite brother Lawrence. His upbringing through the 30’s and 40’s and the hardships that affected the nation made for a hardworking, head strong man of few but meticulously chosen words. Elvin married his wife Sandra in Cheyenne County, Cheyenne Wells; later they moved to Denver where they started a family of their own. Denver is also where Elvin enlisted in the Army and he fought in the Korean war as a Paratrooper, he was awarded a number of medals for his service defending our country including his Master Parachute, Nation Defense Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Korean War Service Medal, as well as his Combat Infantryman Badge.
Elvin and Sandra raised three boys together, Sidney, Kirk, and Micky (Mike). He was sure to always put his wife and sons first, famously working two jobs to eat bologna, ensuring that his family had what they needed. When Kirk and Mike went on to have children of their own, Kirk’s son Jared McKee and Mike’s son Micky Mathew McKee he helped raise them as all great grandparents do. The greatest and hardest working man that many had ever known will be greatly missed.
The man that we all have loved has passed and moved on to the place where we will meet again one day. He is now with his son, Sidney Leroy McKee, awaiting us all on our day. He is survived by his wife Sandra McKee who resides at Brookdale Brighton Senior Living. He is also survived by his son Kirk in Westminster, his son Mike in Brighton and his brother Lawrence in Burlington.
A Funeral Service will be held at Northglenn Christian Church, 1800 E 105th Pl., Northglenn, CO 80233, on July 7, 2026, at 12:30 pm. With a burial to follow at Olinger Highland Mortuary and Cemetery at 2pm.
