Ernestine was preceded to Heaven by her husband Abenisio (1973) and eldest son Ernest Benjamin Mascarenaz (2012). She is survived by her children Josie Cantu, Charles Mascarenaz, Thelma (Deidra) Mascarenaz, Loretta Twilley, Rick Mascarenaz, Steve Mascarenaz, Alonzo Mascarenaz, and Benita Algiene, 15 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, one sister Bernice Medina, and other loved ones.
Ernestine was a long time resident of Commerce City, where she raised and cared for her 9 children. As a mother and homemaker she spoiled her children and grandchildren with her extraordinary baking, and cooking. She also loved to sew, crochet, read and reminiscing was her favorite. Her greatest joy was to be in the company of her children and grandchildren. She loved to share laughter and would often do something silly if not for the shock value and to also make you laugh yourself into tears. She would look forward to family visits to hear the latest and see how everyone was doing. Through the years, as her own health was failing she complained very little. She was always concerned with the health and welfare of her children and grandchildren.
Ernestine will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to have had the opportunity to have known her. Please feel free to sign the guest book at www.dignitymemorial.com or add a comment. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation the American Diabetes Association.
