He loved music and played the tenor saxophone. He joined the Musicians Union after high school, and
had the opportunity to perform with Buddy Rich! He joined the Army Air Corp in 1945 and served 2 years
In Italy. After coming home he attended Butler University for 2 years, with a degree in mathematics.
He met Beverly “Jane” Shaul, through friends in New Castle and 5 months later they were married. They moved to Indianapolis were they both worked for Western Electric. They had 2 children, Michael and Melissa. Together the family spent lots of summers at his parent’s cottage on Lake Chapman and vacationing in Florida. He was transferred to Colorado in 1970, and they made their home in Broomfield. He became an avid golfer and was golfing into his late eighties!
He retired from Western Electric after 25 years and went on to retire from Ball Corp after another 10 years. He shared many special trips with family and friends. His love for his wife, family and friends was always evident in his life. He will be dearly missed by his wife, Beverly Jane Ryan, his son Michael (Ann) Ryan, his daughter Melissa (Rick) Holcomb, all 6 of his grandchildren and their spouses as well as his 3 great-grandchildren.
Memorial service will be held Wednesday October 3, at 10:30 am at the Olinger Highland Mortuary Chapel located at 10201 Grant Street in Thornton, Colorado.
