Fred Ambrusch passed away peacefully on August 4, 2026. He was born on August 31, 1957, in Omaha Nebraska to Roy and Marianna Ambrusch. They moved to Broomfield in 1959, and his baby brother James Ambrusch joined them that year.
Fred is survived by his wife of 44 years, Kathy, his daughters Kristina (Dominic) Wilson-Herrera and Jennifer (Alan) Martinez, and his grandchildren Audrey Jo and Anthony Roy Wilson-Herrera.
Fred is also survived by his brother, James (Pamela) Ambrusch, nephew Matthew (Riley) Ambrusch, and niece Lori Ambrusch.
Fred graduated from Broomfield High School in 1975. He entered the workforce as a young teenager and worked various jobs until he went into trucking and transportation. He started his own business, Mile High Transportation in 1992, and expanded with Transportation Services, in 1993.
Fred was known for his love of music, especially The Blues, riding his dirt bikes and street bikes, petting his beloved doxies, and spending time in the mountains. His size was big, but his sense of humor, generosity and kindness were even bigger, always willing to help whoever asked.
As his final act of generosity, Fred’s family gathered to lead him through an honor walk as he donated his organs and tissues to help others.
Fred is preceded in death by his daughter Jessica Ambrusch and his parents Roy and Marianna Ambrusch.
There will be a celebration of Fred on October 10, 2026, from noon to 3 at The Westminster Elks Lodge, 3850 Elk Dr., Westminster, CO 80030. The family encourages you to bring your best memories to share. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Broomfield Fish Food Bank, more information can be found at www.broomfieldfish.org
